Set on the banks of the River Dee, we are an award-winning luxury hotel in the heart of Royal Deeside. Last year the Daily Mail voted our restaurant the 3rd best view in Britain and if you came to The Lodge, you would see why. We’re an eclectic, fun and luxury boutique hotel in a country setting. We love pushing the boundaries and our food is famed far and wide.

Banchory Lodge receives accolades for its spotless rooms and comfortable lodgings, with its picturesque riverside location often highlighted by guests as a prime spot for local sightseeing. While some reviewers commend the spacious rooms with lovely views, others have encountered issues such as inconsistent heating.
The hotel's atmosphere is generally described as warm and inviting, though the value proposition is questioned, particularly regarding food and drink prices. Despite occasional lapses in service speed, many visitors laud the attentive and friendly staff.

This hotel used to be an excellent four star hotel. The room was comfortable apart from their being no easy chairs and no lounge available so no alternative but to take a drink to the room and watch TV from the bed. Dinner was very good, breakfast service was haphazard. We were seated both mornings, order taken for hot drinks long wait to order a cooked breakfast. Second morning the supervisor interrupted my husband while he was ordering his cooked to ask if my husband wanted a fried egg. If the supervisor had been listening then he would have noted that hubbie wanted bacon with his egg, haggis and sausage. Staff brought cooked breakfasts from the kitchen and then left the room. With a better training regime the staff would have been told to make sure they took dirty plates to the dishwasher. Never leave a dining room empty handed. The room was cluttered with dirty tables that should have been cleared. The 2nd morning a couple were seated and served a hot drink before we arrived and their cooked breakfast didn't arrived until we had finished our cooked breakfast. Very little in the way of an apology from the supervisor.

Just returned back to Worcestershire England after spending 7 nights in Scotland, 3 of which were at Banchory Lodge in Banchory, a lovely small Scottish Town. We booked a room which gave us easy access for the 2 dogs that were with us and ended up in room 1, with French Doors opening directly onto the patio area, into the very large garden with the River Dee flowing past this was a lovely room, very well furnished, comfortable bed and a massive bathroom. The food was also very good and the staff very friendly and helpful to a man, can’t praise the staff enough, because that is what makes staying at a hotel either a good experience or a bad experience. For dog lovers this is a must stay Hotel if you are in the area.

A very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Banchory Lodge Hotel Room was spacious, clean and well equipped, with fantastic views onto the River Dee. Shower was piping hot in the morning
Breakfast, while very tasty, was lukewarm when served. I got the impression most of it was pre-cooked and kept warm, to add the eggs of choice at the end. For £20 I would have expected it to be freshly cooked and served hot
Dinner on the other hand was excellent, with a varied menu and all the food we ordered was very tasty (and hot) Also, no Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc or crisps in the bar at 4pm in the afternoon ??
Would definitely stay again and can recommend if looking for a hotel break

We were on a Gents golf trip and the Banchory Lodge was the highlight of the trip. Every detail was perfect, from the check in which took a minute, to the rooms which were a mix of old and new, keeping the tradition of the original lodge while the bathrooms were upgraded. My favorite part of the trip was the dining experience and variation, including the cool bar area, the outdoor booths and the back dining lodge. I want to go back with my family and spend more time exploring the area all around magnificent Scotland.

This has been our local for around ten years while we visit our holiday home in Banchory but I have to say the prices are becoming ridiculous. Went today and had two points and an aporol sprits and the bill was just short of 28 pounds. It is a great location but it is a three star hotel charging similar prices to Gleneagles where we visited not long ago. That just doesn’t add up for me. Plus when we would visit on a sunny day the place was mobbed and we would struggle to get a seat outside but now it seems to be a lot quieter. This is likely as a result of the prices. Staff are lovely and friendly but I just cannot see how you can justify these prices. We used to champion this hotel and tell folk to visit but now we are actually telling friends to avoid due to the price. I think it’s something like a 15 per cent service charge now as well so your meal and drinks will increase in price even more. I know it’s popular with weddings but if you are thinking of booking here just take a moment to think about your guests paying 7 pounds a pint all day/ night. I can’t see that going down well. It’s a shame because we used to love it here and came weekly but we are done with it

My wife and I booked into the Banchory Lodge for my wife’s birthday weekend. We had heard it was good for dogs so we brought our Golden Retriever, Toby as well. We stayed from the 1st to the 3rd in Room 2. The room was amazing and has an outside balcony with easy access to the hotel grounds which is essential with a dog. In addition, there were coffee, tea, toiletries, bottles of water and Caramel wafers!!!! Great…. We knew that we had made the right decision to stay here as within 5 minutes of arriving we had all been royally welcomed with the majority of the staff welcoming Toby as well. There are water bowls and dog biscuits everywhere and we counted at least 6 different breeds of dogs on the first afternoon! Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant but the bar is fantastic and is kitted out like a dining room so dogs are welcome there. The food and drinks are not cheap but the quality of the hotel and the food far outweighs the cost. Plus for us the dog friendly atmosphere was better than we ever imagined. Fillet steaks, fish and chips, burgers and the different options for breakfast were lovely. The staff are friendly and professional and will do their best to satisfy all your needs. A fantastic couple of days we’re had for my wife’s birthday and hopefully it will not be too long before we can go back.

We ate here outside in a little cabin which was quirky. We were told there was no steak but saw people who arrived later getting steak. The menu offers ‘salmon kebabs’ (note the plural), what arrived was one sad stick with two bits of salmon and two prawns wedged between charred but under cooked halves of onion. A bottled of non alcohol beer was £4.20 and 200mls of coke £2.20. A skinny chicken leg was £16.50, when I asked about the whereabouts of the coleslaw I had ordered I was told there was none left and, “don’t worry we won’t charge you for it! The ‘sliders’ were two small buns with meat in on a plate, no garnish even. A miniscule portion of fries cost £5.50, the fries came before any other food! The service was mostly desultory. The puddings were ok but at £8.00, overpriced for what they were. We complained about the underwhelming kebab and so were not charged for that. We would not recommend or return.

My wife and I plus our wee dog visited for short break in July. We arrived and were greeted by a friendly and helpful receptionist. The room was spacious and attractive, however the air was stuffy and we found that the windows would not open to ventilate and eventually requested a cooling fan to stay cool. The electrical sockets in room were inadequate, as we had to move kettle onto floor in order to plug in and make some tea. There was no in room mini fridge, which would have been appreciated to keep fresh milk and drinks cool. Staff were generally helpful and friendly. Evening dinner was always served up fairly quick and was delicious, though a bit pricey. Hotel is in lovely location and we found parking adequate. On check out we only had to pay for our dog's accommodation, which was expected, even though not mentioned at check in and not obvious on booking website. Nice stay, but the little things count too.

Beautiful setting beside the river. We ordered drinks when we sat down but they were very slow to arrive (25 minutes), we had ordered a gin & tonic and a double gin & tonic but when they arrived I noticed that the levels on both glasses were the same so knew it wasn't a double measure. Very limited Sunday lunch menu, offered a brunch menu which was just a bit naff. We ordered Eggs Benedict and Croque Monsieur which were both ok. The poached eggs were cooked well. Service was very slow so we went to the bar to pay as we didn't want to sit any longer, the lady handed us the bill but I noticed she had charged for the double gin, I queried this and she admitted that she had poured the drinks herself and it was indeed a single measure and apologised (ok to pour a single measure but felt it ok to still charge for the double!!!!) I asked them to amend the bill and also to to take the statutory 10% service charge off the bill too (firstly because I had to query the bill and secondly because the service was very slow) To be perfectly honest, I feel Banchory Lodge should not charge the 10% service charge to any customer until staff are trained well enough to give good service. After staying in Banchory for the weekend, I would say the town is really lacking in some good places to eat.

Perfect location in small cozy town. We were welcomed by nice and friendly receptionist and she helped us to book a nice table in the restaurant. Nice room, however a somewhat narrow and crunchy bed. Could use some better head pillows. Eaten a nice dinner, exquisite personal service and well-working and welcoming waitress who both had a smile and a talk to everyone. We ate a good a`la carte breakfast + buffet, and the friendly waiter suggested to take a cup of tea down to the river in the beautiful weather, to the hanging sofa. We ⁇ sitting there in the sun with the water rising in the river, while we could see salmon and trout jumping up the stream. We will definitely return to this lovely hotel.

Hello - we are sorry to hear that our normal high levels of service were not what you appear to have received on your last visit. Whilst we don't have a lounge, you are welcome to sit at the bar where we have seating, to enjoy an after dinner drink. Your comments will be passed to Management and we hope we can welcome you back sometime to see that this was not our usual standard.
