Based in an ex-department store, this hotel is literally 2 min walk from the train staion - one minute if you walk fast. The big entrance facing you is the bar entrance; the hotel entrance is round the side. Staff friendly and welcoming. The room I had was huge (room 18) with a spare bed and a large bathroom. Breakfast...

Opted for the cumberland dawg, yes, thats "dawg" from the me and you, I have to say filling as it was satisfying, my little treasure opted for the bbq chicken, which required a little assistance on my part toward the end, no problemo, the food so appealing it begged to be devoured, shame the chef not able to join us...

For an old building in the heart of a still quite run down town I wasn't expecting that much, but the Hillcarter defied expectations. Service and staff were friendly and the rooms comfortable. The design and decor successfully reflected the Victorian building and had a modern twist. Rooms were also very well equipped. Not bad at all

Out of Guinness, Tyskie stocks depleted, Jack Rabbit stocks depleted, left wondering if this could be a forerunner of the much publicised vision! Been a number of departures on the staff front , who knows whats going on behind the scenes at this establishment at the moment, but as a member of the public and patron, it does not look...

Very quite when we visited. Girl behind the bar was friendly enough, but seemed a bit bored. Was fairly early though, sure it gets busier than when we went in. Good selection of beers etc. Very clean and comfortable settee's. Worth a visit.

We stayed here for 2 nights for work. It looks to be the biggest hotel in the town. The service was always warm and helpful. The breakfast was pretty good with hot food available. Unfortunately the room was very dated. The carpet was all worn through, the bed was very old as were all the other furnishings. The tv was...

Nice rooms, lovely staff. We were warned of noise from a function before checking in but it was minimal. Breakfast was a little disappointing but the restaurant is lovely, brilliant views. Would definitely stay again
