Spent a week here, would definitely go back. Clean quirky accommodation, spacious living areas. Really atmospheric, retaining all the charm of the working carriages they were converted from. The outside space is very scenic and brilliant for children - we stayed here with friends (carriages 1 & 2) and our 4 kids ages 3-6 had a fantastic time riding bikes... More

Just stayed a week at the Old Station at Alleston. The old first class carriages have been done out to a very high standard which made it a very comfortable stay. We were lucky we had great weather which made sitting out in the grounds very relaxing and making friends with the hens! The location is great for Scarborough, Whitby,... More

To give the exact location, this accommodation is on the edge of the village of Allerston, about 5 miles from Pickering, on the site of the old Ebberston (the next village which can be confusing at first) station on a railway that was closed in 1950. If all that sounds intriguing, you can read all about it, or watch a... More

This is more than just a place to stay, you can tell it is the owners hobby, pride and joy and not just a business. There are three coaches on the platform of the old station. The station is occupied by the owners and has been restored with old fashioned signs and lighting just as it would have been in... More

Just got home after a fabulous long weekend at the Old Station, and couldn't wait to review because this place is just wonderful. Prior to our arrival the communication from Mark was brilliant; booking details, directions, information (about the facilities and the local area) were all excellent. When we arrived we received a warm welcome from Mark & Carole and... More

This is the second time we have stayed at The Old Station in Allerston. We visited 2 years ago and yet again cannot fault the hospitality shown by the owners Mark & Carole. The three MK2 first class carriages are a home from home' which has been lovingly restored. Set in the heart of North Yorkshire the views from the carriage... More

We have stayed here twice now, which in itself is unique in being the only place we have ever stayed for a family a holiday more than once. It was recommended to me by a colleague a few years ago who said it was fantastic and all you need to do is turn up with your clothes and buy food.... More

We have just returned from the most wonderful week at The Old Station. It's a beautiful setting, and the attention to detail in the carriages was second to none. The conversion of the carriages has been incredibly well done, retaining a true feel of being on board a vintage first class train carriage. On arrival we found eggs (courtesy of... More

If I could give the Old Station 6 stars I would, it is a wonderful place. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the carriages are just amazing. Lovingly crafted and converted into accommodation, they are spotless and you have ample room. We loved the original features that have been retained within the carriage. Our son was in heaven. You are also close... More

What a good idea. Three refurbushed carriages sitting at an old station decked out with vintage adverts, milk churns and chickens picking around the platform. Our carriage would have held 6 (4 of us ere very comfortable in it) - there's a kitchen, lounge with real first class train seats then along the corridor double, twin and bunk rooms and... More
