We recently stayed here and basically wished we had booked somewhere else. On getting our room we noticed that not only was there no wifi available one couldn't even get signal despite a signal mast positioned right outside to park. On inquiring about this, we were informed they just don't get signal but they have wifi in their main centre, which again was extremely poor as we kept getting kicked off the wifi. Furthermore, we found that the room seemed to be stuck in the 50/60s and desperately needs revamping. The heating was intermittent, with heat cutting off about every 3 minutes regardless of how it was adjusted. There was no door on the wardrobe, no lock on the bathroom door, when we inquired about this we were told it's a safety issue. The toilet seat was loose and misaligned, and the show/bath really needs updating. There is no welcome pack to give you any instructions on using anything, you are basically given a map so you can find your block. A welcome pack would for example explain that one cannot have hot water whilst having the cooker switched on, and vice versa, which would have been handy to know at the outset. Not recomended, will never book a Pontins again anywhere.

Absolutely disgusting place! I arrived with our daughter and my wife as a cheap and cheerful break and were disgusted to what we found. Straight away we found that the check-in had been delayed an hour to 5pm! With a toddler it wasn't ideal as we had planned to cook and eat. Had to quickly find an alternative. We later found out from one of the staff that there was a "Swingers weekend" and they had left the place in a right mess! Our first impressions didn't get any better and if you look at the photos the place was a sh*thole! It was filthy inside, beyond disrepair and the staff were unprofessional, rude and represented Pontins exactly as you'd think if you were to look at the place. We left after 2 days but that was only because the weather was 25c and we wanted our daughter to experience some beach life. If the weather was mild we would have drove home the same night! The whole resort was disgusting, the toilets, the swimming pool, the park - just everything. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Customer services on site said we would get our money back and then customer relations on email did nothing and basically told us they would not write back to us.

Horrendous. We booked a 4 night holiday - 2apartments - for my daughter and 3 year old twins and my husband and myself. I opted for Club instead of Standard because I thought it would be a better apartment. OMG. When we checked in at reception we were given a bedding bake - to make up our own beds!!!! Went to our apartment and we’re immediately shocked. My daughter asked if we could just get in the car and drive home. The beds were old, filthy and lumpy and some of the duvets were disgusting. The apartment was not clean. There had obviously been a token “clean” but not acceptable. I complained to reception and they sent a cleaner to check. The girl told me that due at staff shortage they get a limited time to clean each apartment. I said i could not sleep on the mattresses so she gave me new duvets to put down on the mattresses and new duvets for on the beds. The common areas were littered with rubbish and cigarettes ends. Never really saw any cleaners clearing it. The bar and lounge area are equally dirty. On the 2 nights we ventured into the entertainment lounge the tables were NEVER cleared or wiped. Plastic glasses lay all over the tables and floor. A box of chips and sauce had been dropped on the floor near the exit and remained there for the whole night. On our first night there was a serious domestic incident in the apartment above us. Terrifying. It stopped after half an hour. The next day I was told by another guest that the room had been trashed and the couple had been evicted. On the 3rd night we had to phone security at midnight as there were youngsters playing loud music OUTSIDE their room, running up and down the stairs and chasing each other along the balconies, screaming and shouting. Security arrived in about half an hour and it did stop. We booked half board and the food was fine. However the cutlery was not clean and when I spoke to staff I was told they were having trouble with the dishwasher machine. I told him the cutlery should be hand washed until it was fixed. We went home the next morning - a day early. I have written to Pontins Customer Service twice and finally got a reply 2 months later, only to be told that if I didn’t complete a form when I spoke to reception (no one told me this it offered me one) then they Connor continue with my complaint. Worst holiday experience of my life. When my children were young - 80s and 90s we went to Pontins in Blackpool every year and had fabulous holidays. I don’t know about other Pontins sites but avoid Southport. It is absolutely horrendous. I thought in light of Covid the apartments, bars and dining room would be immaculate. I would love if an under cover newspaper reporter would do a piece on it because I think people should be made aware of what they are paying for. I am annoyed that I didn’t take photos of the place. BE WARNED 😱
