This is a B&B that charges a very reasonable rate. As such, it's foolish to expect the Ritz. I got a warm welcome and, despite being very early, was able to check into a room straight away. Although the decor is in need of a freshen up, rooms are well equipped with tea/coffee making, TV, decent shower, hairdryer, plenty of...

Clean enough but a very tired room and common areas. The breakfast, however, was excellent with exceptional bacon! We didn't get an overly enthusiastic welcome - strange for someone who relies on dealing with guests. This is a large townhouse in a street of mainly B&B's. It is well placed for the 'attractions' of Southport. The rooms are large enough...

Being frequent visitors to Southport we have stayed in quite a few B&B's over the years, and generally we have been satisfied with most establishments. This time round we were travelling for my wife's 40th birthday weekend, and based on the reviews and the fact we had not stayed there before, decided to book the Carlton Lodge. I initially booked...

i arrived early , and telephoned the landlady who was very helpful and let me leave my luggage whilst going for a game of golf. I came back later that day around 6pm ish . When looking at the room more closely i felt uncomfortable as it seemed old and dated. When i looked at the pillowcase i noticed small...

THIS IS NOT A VERY TRUE FUL REVIEW. yes you did complain about the sheets saying that you had blood stained sheets! This was not the case when I saw the bed. However I offered to change the sheets direct from the packet in front of you. The sheets actually had a slight laundry marker pen mark which I presume...

I feel in danger of repeating myself about The Carlton Lodge but I have to say this place is everything you could wish for in a guesthouse and as the title suggests we wouldn't stay anywhere else (or want to stay anywhere else). On this visit we stayed in room 12 which is actually on the ground floor, ideal if...

More shabby than chic. The carpets are extremely tired and yes need a very good clean. We stayed in room 4 , the room is really tired , there's 1970s wood chip wallpaper on the walls which has been painted several times over. The bathroom has wood cladding to the walls , and the tiles to the shower desperately need...

Thankyou for your review.you did not like room 4 ,Actually this is my most requested room due to its spaciousness and seating areas. the room is plain white .The carpet was cleaned in January 2015 by professionals. Yes pine cladding in the bathroom not chosen by me. There is nothing wrong with the sealant to the shower this has been...

The room was warm and comfortable but very shabby. Carpet stained and dirty, although overall the place was clean. Breakfast very good so overall not bad for £25 each per night. Southport not what it used to be.

thankyou for your review.yes the carpet was due for its regular cleaning,it gets a hammering in winter time.I cannot agree that the room .is shabby. Room 7 (twin) was described by the English Tourist inspection in Nov 2014 as well appointed, well furnished and co ordinated. The bathroom is new and spacious.Unfortunately a guest had damaged the new sink which is to...

Easily found right in between Lords Street and Marine Drive, really handy for everything. As we pulled up we were greeted by Christine, the proprietor, at the door. We were quickly shown in, taken up to our room and everything explained to us. Our bedroom was nice and warm, adequate in size, décor a bit dated but clean and functional, and...

Once again I have been lucky to stay on my own at the Carlton Lodge. Clean, peaceful and a breakfast to die for. Christine is a wonderful person and very attentive. I have recommended the Carlton to all my family in Ireland as I know they will soon have to make the dreaded trip to say goodbye to my uncle...
