Huge and gorgeous house in the middle of nowhere. The perfect place to admire the fantastic landscapes from north island in NZ. The dinner was superb ( one of our perfect restaurant in NZ), service friendly and efficient, a little bit expensive. The road from russell is scenic...go go go

Went with another couple on a golfing trip. From the moment our car pulled into the driveway when we were met by three staff from the lodge till the time we left and were sent off by as many staff, the service was above par . The meals were excellent and every buggy driver who picked us up was equally...

We spent two nights at Kauri Cliffs after having spent two night at Cape Kidnappers. While both of these resorts are absolutely stunning in every respect (they are owned by the same company), they are completely different kinds of property. While Kidnappers presents a cool and misty microclimate (even at the peak of summer), Kauri Cliffs gives off the vibe...

You don’t have to be a golfer to love Kauri Cliffs. We non-golfers so much enjoyed our springtime visit a decade ago that we’ve wanted to return ever since, and this year made it happen. The property is strikingly beautiful. Non-golfing guests should definitely take a golf cart to drive the entire course in order to experience its dramatic views....

We were truly made to feel welcome at this world class lodge. I can't think of a single aspect that I would change. If only we could have stayed there longer! Thanks so much for making it such a special time for us

We stayed at all three of the related lodges in New Zealand. Kauri Cliffs was the first and was wonderful. The cottages are stunning - spacious, tastefully decorated and airy and bright. It was so nice to be able to sleep with the windows open and wake up to the sound of birdsong. We were staying on the Ultimate Package...

This Lodge is amazing! We enjoyed 3 nights at Kauri Cliffs, the staff were so lovely and friendly and the food was gorgeous. I don't play golf but I was happy to drive my husband around in the golf buggy because the views were so fabulous. The golf course is supposed to be one of the best in the world...

This is another sister property of Matakaur Lodge and The Farm at Cape Kidnappers. I'm so glad we were able to stay at all three of these Lodges. They were all fantastic and it was such a wonderful experience. We played golf here and the views were something to behold. The rooms and service is perfect in every way. There...

I think my favorite part was walking to our cottage down a very green foliage path. I could feel myself relax. The amenities in the cottages were wonderful, breakfast and dinner delicious, golf staff couldn't be nicer, and the grounds gorgeous. We were first introduced to the ice cream called Hokey Pokey there. Hated to leave.

When somewhere gets 5 star reviews, your expectations are high and you hope you are not disappointed. We certainly weren't disappointed. From the moment you drive through the gates until you depart, I don't think you could wish for better. The suite was luxurious but quite understated, the food was fabulous, the views, the walks, the golf course - all...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the far north of New Zealand lies an unspoiled peninsula. High cliffs and a few ranches on this welcoming island which won the hearts of Julian and Josie Robertson. After designing a magnificent 18-hole golf course, the couple created a splendid colonial residence with outlying cottages. Space is the real luxury, the suite an apartment, the bathroom a spa. The epitome of refinement in a distant corner of the world. ... more   less
