This was a terrible hotel with absolutely low value for the money I paid and very low standards compared to most hotels on the continent. There were parties going on downstairs in the bar/restaurant with noise on the street until 3am. The room was not too clean, the carpet loose, the bathroom cold and smelling of sewer. The breakfast was... More

We were welcomed by a lovely receptionist who didnt look too horrified that we were wet, wind blown and sandy after a walk up to the lighthouse. A jewel in a jaded crown as Whitley bay needs some cash injection. The room was huge and front facing so i could listen to the force 10 all night from the snugness... More

The Royal is on the sea front at Whitley Bay and if you get the right room then you get a lovely view out over the sea. Staff are great and the breakfast is really good. Parking can be a bit of a problem outside the hotel but it is possible to park in the residents parking around the corner... More

No wifi signal in our room (sea front 1st floor), bizarrely the electric radiator was on a timer which had to be overidden by the maintenance chap. Quite a bit of noice from the road even with the windows closed. Noisey corridor and doors in the morning too. Breakfast was ok.

Great friendly staff, clean if compact single room (the chaps with me said theirs was massive! Ho-hum). Good choice and service of breakfast restaurant menu looked good but didn't eat there. Car park very small ended up on the road.

Stayed here about a fortnight ago for the one night as I was in Whitley Bay seeing Gavin Webster at the Playhouse. I only live about 15 miles away, but thought I'd make a night of it. It wasn't the first time I've stayed here and won't be the last. From arriving, the staff are very friendly and explain the... More

We went with a group of friends as a base for a walking weekend. The room was poor for £100 per night with a view over a flat roof we asked to change but the hotel was full a good sign you would think. The people were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast excellent. The bar was closed for the... More

I stayed at The Royal Hotel for three nights in early October 2016 and was very happy with the accommodation. Although travelling alone I was given a good sized room with full en-suite facilities. The room was equipped with TV, tea and coffee-making services, hair dryer and clean, white comfortable linen. It was at the back of the building and... More
