Couldn't fault cleanliness and location. Reception and hotel bar are lovely, stylish and welcoming. Double room which due to its shape would of lent itself better to either a single room with singled bed or a single room of someone who likes a bigger bed due to only one bedside table fitting alongside the bed.
I understand we didn't select a sea view room so we knew not to expect one but what we were charged for the location of the room I would of expected a better quality bed that wasn't using a fleece blanket as a mattress topper and didn't have a bedside table for each side of the bed, drawer missing from the dresser in the room and the flimsiest chair ever as an extra seat in the room.
As we arrived late we had picked up takeaway and the owners were accommodating enough to loan us plates.
Breakfast was nice and they were very accommodating in plating up a fresh breakfast for my partner and I when there wasn't a lot left on the buffet however this wasn't made clear what was happening so was stuff on our plates that we don't like. Though we absolutely appreciated the service it felt a little awkward. Also despite either being dished up fresh or thee buffet being replenished, nothing was hot...

We got what we paid for with this hotel. The location is fantastic minutes from the beach and 10 minutes from the town. Also free parking all day/night. Our room on the 3rd floor had a sea view which was lovely, but was what I call half refurbished. Not a room I would want to spend much time in and breakfast was basic rather than enjoyable. Overall, it was reasonably priced and was fine for one night.

The hotel is right on top of Shanklin beach and a short walk down to the actual beach. It has ample free parking. We booked a room for 3 of us, two adults, 1 grandson. The room was quite large but the bed we uncomfy. The mattress was well past it's sell by date, the duvet didn't fit the cover and the sheets weren't clean. We had our grandson on the go for well over 12 hours so needed to get him to sleep rather than complain as we only had one night. When we got dressed the next day we found an old lolly stick and a used plaster at the end of our bed, not nice at all.

Excellent hotel.
We found the family running the hotel very welcoming and very pleasant. Which is just what you need to begin a nice relaxing break. Nothing was too much bother for them.
The room we booked had fantastic uninterrupted sea views from two large windows. It was very clean, had a very comfortable bed, the bathroom was a fair size with a very powerful shower.
Short walk from transport connections and regular bus services to Godshill, Ventnor, Newport etc if you did want to venture out of Shanklin for a few hours but saying that, we found Shanklin esplanade to have excellent places to eat and relax plus good shops and pubs in the main town. All in all a fantastic break and could not have asked for better weather either resulting in a very memorable time and for all the right reasons!
We will definitely be returning.

Lovely hotel, rooms basic but clean. Buffet breakfast very nice. Short walk down to beach, can get the lift back up if you like staff very nice and helpful. Had a curry bowl which was really lovely asked if they could make it quite spicy and they did. Second night they prepared an indian buffet for £18 per person, again very nice. Tried a flaked rice dish at breakfast which was amazing. would definitely stay here again.

Not satisfied with the layout, service or facilities. A family room with a baby and we were put on the top floor through a maze of stairs. reception service is not welcoming. The rooms are limited in basic things such as tissues, a plug, a phone (so can’t call reception), the size of duvet is smaller than the bed. There’s a poor attempt to make some things a bit ‘nicer’ but it seems they can’t be bothered to spend the money to do it properly. If staff were friendlier or more helpful it would have made these small things more overlooked. Spend the same money elsewhere.

Our Family were in Isle of White on 1st week of September for a few days. We booked this Hotel/Bed and Breakfast.
As soon as we arrived, we were checked in given keys for our rooms. One of Rooms had a fantastic see view, it was lovely, all the rooms were very nicely cleaned and welcoming.
We found out that it was a family run Hotel/Bed and Breakfast, breakfast was very nice every morning and well attended.
Our Family have enjoyed the stay and certainly will be staying there again if we were to be around the area again in the future.
For the price they offer, its a great value and we recommend this place to be tried once if one has not stayed there before.

We could not fault this family run hotel. It is located a short walk from the beach, with fantastic views across the bay from bedrooms and veranda. The staff cannot do enough for you and are very respectful, friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean, presentable and fantastic views. We would like to thank Ronak, KC and Pops and our adopted babies !!! for making our stay so great.

I've just returned from my second stay at the Mayfair. I don't understand such low scores as for what you pay I feel this hotel is great.
The Mayfair is clean, good sized twin room, basic decor but nothing unappealing. Excellent location with beautiful views over Shanklin seafront from the front.
My only criticism this time was that our twin room faced a back wall of balconies from an adjacent building. As we had a busy activity holiday and the accomodation was good value, this didn't really impact my enjoyment of the holiday too much.
The hotel is lacking in atmosphere somewhat but the covid situation doesn't help that. I personally really appreciated the calm, peace and quiet the hotel offered as opposed to other hotels nearby with drunken Brits abroad and music blaring. ( This was only occasionally and not late into the evening to be fair).
If you want good value, calm, peace and relative quiet, with an excellent location I would recommend this place. I will definitely stay again.

We recently stayed at The Mayfair Hotel in Shanklin and really enjoyed our stay.
We arrived and the staff were very helpful and hospitable, providing us with an array of maps and information for our trip.
The room was very clean and spacious, there were amazing views of the bay above Shanklin seafront and we had a nice breakfast each morning while getting ready for the day of long coastal walks ahead.
Would definitely recommend, and thank you very much to the staff.
