I would thoroughly recommend Westbury Lodge. Rosemary and David were perfect hosts – available, friendly and efficient; nothing was too much trouble.

We had room 7 which has big windows letting in lots of light and a very comfortable bed alongside a good size ensuite. Our daughter had room 3 which is a smaller double / ensuite but not too small! Both rooms were upstairs however there are rooms downstairs as well. There is a great deal of attention to small details in the bathroom such as the shower gels, body cream, face flannel for make-up removal and shower caps alongside pristine white towels and shower mat. Our bedroom had both a coffee maker with pods and a kettle, two nice mugs with spoons, wine glasses and small bottles of water refreshed daily. The rooms were serviced daily and looked immaculate.

Breakfasts were freshly cooked by David who used to chef in London. The ingredients used were locally sourced and tasty. There are a variety of breakfast options with extra tea/ coffee/ juices and toast if required.

There is a good sized lounge area with many other facilities. Boiled sweets (which our 20 year old daughter said were really good) and island guides are available near the entrance area.

Old Shanklyn and New Shanklyn are close by.

Finally, we were very grateful to be able to take our two dogs at a very reasonable small charge. When we are next in the area Westbury Lodge will be our first option to stay.

We had the pleasure in visiting Westbury Lodge a week ago with friends and their dog.
The hosts Rosemary and David are exceptional hosts, it was like staying with family as they were warm and friendly. We stayed in room 5 which was lovely decorated, our friends stayed in one of the downstairs rooms as they had a small dog so had easy access to the front door. The place is spotlessly clean, great location and beautifully decorated. Their care and attention shows they love being hosts. Its this and the extra's that single this place out.
For example: fridge/freezer and glasses in the lobby for guests to drinks or food if you want to keep it cold.
Tea/Coffee in the spacious lounge with biscuits, Teas/coffee and cups also supplied in your room with biscuits and bottles of water, which were replaced everyday, even a tea cloth to wipe your cup up with. They thought of everything.
The bathroom had a lovely basket with a face cloth, shower gel, shampoo, body cream and the towels supplied were lovely white and soft.
We spent the evenings in the conservatory relaxing but you could also sit in the longe, play games which they supplied or just watch TV.
The breakfast was amazing, cooked by David with local produce, he really puts his love and care into every dish served.
I cannot praise Westbury lodge enough and will recommend them to everyone.
Thank you Rosemary and David for a perfect stay, we will be returning.

We went here for a weeks holiday my husband, myself and our sausage dog, being a dog friendly B&B was a bonus. On arrival Rosemary and David Bannister were so welcoming, they were such a lovely pair of hosts they went above and beyond for everything and would always stop and talk to their guests and was very knowledgeable about the island. The B&B was spotlessly clean, we was shown into our room with en-suite the room was immaculately clean and contained everything you need tea, coffee etc. and our room was cleaned everyday. The breakfasts that David cooked every morning was gorgeous and a variety of food to choose from and even though we had a yapping little dog Rosemary and David accommodated us by allowing us to have breakfast in the conservatory as to not annoy other guests. The B&B was in a prime location not too far from the beach and other destinations. If anybody wants to go for a holiday on the Isle of Wight I would definitely recommend this B&B. Thank you Rosemary and David for such a lovely stay.

We spent a lovely 5 days at the Westbury Lodge. The hosts, Rosemary and David are the perfect hosts and are more than happy to assist you in any which way they can. The breakfast was cooked to perfection by David with locally sourced produce and Rosemary is the perfect front of house host! Full credit must also go to housekeeping, the room was spotlessly clean, bright and airy with tea and coffee to hand, with more available in the guest lounge. The location is perfect with just a 5 minute walk to the beach, chine and Shanklin Old village and town centre. We were sad to leave and will definitely return. Highly recommend!

If you are fortunate enough to be able to stay at Westbury Lodge, do so!
Rosemary and David know how to run a lodge. They are friendly and knowledgeable about all aspects of Isle of Wight. Our room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. Breakfast was great, which included a hot, prepared on site, selection.
Well situated, this location offers ease of public transportation and walking to shore or town.
Thank you for making our pre cruise experience on Isle of Wight memorable.
You are definitely a hidden gem.

It was lovely to meet the three of you and we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope that you enjoyed your cruise home. I am sure that you now well into winter and probably have lots of snow. Some parts of the Island had a sprinkle of snow last week but it did not make it to Shanklin! Best wishes Rosemary & David

This was our first visit to the Isle of wight and we chose to stay at the Westbury Lodge and we were absolutely delighted with our choice of accommodation.
We were met on our arrival by David who took both our cases to our room we paid for an upgrade and was definitely pleased with our choice even our small dog was made welcome .
David showed us the room facilities and left us to settle in the room had lots of drawers and a wardrobe too for our clothes and believe me we took plenty because we wasn't sure how the weather would be.
The room had a ceiling fan and a massive shower room too and a large comfortable bed .
We spent the afternoon and evening exploring Shanklin including the pretty chocolate box old village.
The next morning we went down to the dining room where we were greeted by Rosemary who said that we were welcome to a range of fruit juices and cereals before she took our orders for our cooked breakfast which definitely lived up to its reputation as award winning nothing was too much trouble for David to cook you what you wanted and it really did set us up for the days ahead.
We stayed Monday to Saturday and the Westbury Lodge was the perfect place to explore the island and the beach was also close by accessible by a lift or a walk down the hill to the beach the lift is close by and a good idea if you're not good with hills or steps.
The Westbury Lodge is a credit to Rosemary and David and will definitely be staying there again the next time we revisit the island.
Thanks for making our visit a wonderful experience.

Second time we’ve visited and this time round was just as good as the first. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable. Our hosts are welcoming and helped with a discounted ferry booking and giving us early access to rooms before we went on to family event. The breakfast, as ever, was delicious.

We were lucky to come across this gem, The Westbury purely by chance scrolling through trip adviser, booking .com etc.

We can only endorse what other guests have written, it’s beautifully clean, every amenity is catered for in the spacious room and en suite, complete with toiletries. It’s situation is ideal for the lift to the beach or a stroll down the winding lane. As has been mentioned in all reviews, our hosts were very welcoming and we were spoilt for choice at breakfast. Unlike some b and bs we’ ve stayed, there is a small outside seating in the garden as well as a conservatory for days when weather is not so kind. Even had tea coffee making in there and some games.

The bonus was that Rosemary kindly booked our ferry crossing for us and even forgot to,charge us on the bill until we pointed it out. ! Thank you Rosemary and David.

What a beautiful place and stay. Rosemary and David are the perfect hosts, so welcoming, and the personal touch is certainly welcomed.

The blue room is spacious, clean and packed with all the necessities including a cloth to remove makeup, shower caps, not forgetting the different teas, coffees and biscuits replaced daily.

Sadly after a few late nights due to a family wedding we didn’t make it down to breakfast, but from hearing others comments, we will definitely be back to sample David’s breakfasts.

It is the perfect spot for a short or long break in the Isle of Wight. Close to all amenities and the seafront.

An absolutely perfect stay at Westbury Lodge this weekend - we had the whole place booked out for 14 friends to celebrate my 40th and Rosemary and David could not have done more to make us feel welcome. The location is perfect, just a 5 minute walk to the beach lift meant we had a dip in the sea before going out for the day around the island. Brilliant local pubs are a ten minute walk. All the rooms are great sizes, immaculately clean with comfy beds all round. The attention to detail was over and above what we expected. Breakfast was a particular highlight, with so much choice for a large mixed group. We will definitely be back!
