Didn't spend much time in the room However, the room we were given ?room 6 first room up the stairs was small and basic, a few complementary hairs in the bath and bed. The bed was quite hard and...

We stayed here for 4 nights on a visit to Durham. Visually the house and room are brilliant. Its a small 15 minute walk to the town centre, just be prepared for the walk up the hill which is The Avenue. Its the little things that if fixed could make this stay very nice. Firstly the free wifi is dodgy....

We were visiting a friend at Durham University and we were looking for somewhere to stay a bit different than the usual. Located just on the outskirts of the city but still only a ten minute walk to the centre. Very pleasant, decent size rooms. Not very friendly welcome but we ignored that. Free parking which is a plus in...

My colleague and I stayed here on a business trip recently. A very grand looking building conveniently located for a short walk into the city but far enough out not to be disturbed by the city's noise (huge student population in Durham) The rooms are large and pleasant but do feel a little "dated" by modern standards. Powerful shows and...

4 day break with 15 friends all members of an MG car club.Found the hotel on trip advisor so we were expecting it to be of a good standard. The hotel is situated about 15 mins walk from the town centre or 5 mins in a £4 taxi. The hotel was built in 1870 for a prominent local architect. It...

Don't go here if you expect all the facilities of a city centre chain hotel. My daughter and I booked this mainly for its location, but it proved to be quite a peaceful sanctuary. The Victorian house and its garden don't feel like a modern hotel at all, though the room was larger then average, the beds comfortable and the...

Visiting family in Durham we booked up this B & B after seeing it on Tripadvisor. Beautiful house in lovely grounds and very quiet. We had a lovely room (11) with a view of the castle, and the cathedral slightly hidden behind trees. Breakfast is served in a delightful dining room also with a great view, and we found the...

A wonderful welcome by everyone who worked there. High on a hill so walking down into the town is good but a taxi back is a must unless you are a fitness fanatic! No view from the room but then we were out and about so didn't care about that too much. My only gripes are small - cheap loo...

We had 3 rooms booked, all doubles of which 2 were standard doubles and 1 (room 12) was really lovely - incredibly spacious and a very large king size bed - and the view over the cathedral. We had a number of friends unable to attend, and the hotel were fantastic by automatically changing the pricing from double occupancy to...

Pleasant hotel with many lovely original features plus resident friendly feline Oliver😻 Staff all friendly and helpful. Very pleasant stay, lovely views from the garden/patio we stayed in rms 2 and 3 and both were spacious and clean. My only slight personal disappointment was the bed was too soft for my liking

Thank Cyril B
