We wanted to stay in Durham for 4 days, explore the city & nearby attractions, but we wanted to leave the car safe & walk or use public transport. Most large hotels in Durham city have no parking & you have to use an expensive & risky public carpark nearby, so we were delighted to find the Victoria had a...

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Durham, it's in a quiet location but just walk to the end of the street & the you are in the city centre and close to the beautiful cathedral. We have stayed here a number of times now. The rooms are just lovely, clean, nice decor & really comfortable. I read a...

Another lovely stay. Warm welcome, immaculately clean room, beautiful bathroom and the comfiest bed with gorgeous snuggly bedding. Breakfast fab too. The bar is a little gem of traditional fixtures and cosy corners and very friendly. Passing students a bit noisy but earplugs can sort that and it was a Freshers weekend. This place is a gem and I will...

Myself and the Mrs stayed 3 nights in September. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was substantial and well cooked. We were made very welcome by the owner and staff, as well as the locals when we ventured into the bar on a couple of evenings. Those who appreciate good real ale and sitting near a cosy...

We stayed as a couple for two nights and were made to feel really welcome by all the staff and local regulars. We visited Durham to explore the old City and try to solve a murder mystery trail. The Vic is perfectly located as it is only 5 minutes walk to the Cathedral/Castle and 8 minutes to the Market Place....

We stayed for a few days in June. Spacious rooms, friendly host, off street parking, close to Cathedral, good breakfast, fine cook. Above pub, but not noisy, and pub very friendly. Good Spanish restaurant across the street.

Spent a very enjoyable 5 night stay in Victoria Inn, Durham. Made more enjoyable because of the wonderful location, 5 mins walk to city centre. Made to feel extremely welcome by all staff, especially the ladies who cooked breakfast and looked after the housekeeping. They started your day not only with a hearty breakfast of your choice but also friendly...

The statement is true, magnificient, traditional and worthy of its 4 star rating! No Jukebox nor pool table but a true and unspoilt Inn. The Breakfast was outstanding (Head Chef - Maureen) and Head Housekeeper Christine really enhanced out stay! The Owner was also most welcoming. Recommended to us by Durham Tourist Information Office (Margaret Goodchild) and a perfect choice!...

Really characterful B & B above the pub. lovely room, comfortable bed, modern bathroom and a truly excellent breakfast - all this above an authentic CAMRA pub and only a few minutes walk from the city centre with free parking. Even the rain didn't upset us
