Stayed two nights while visiting Durham. Lovely warm welcome, including badly needed help to find where to park ! Room very comfortable, in a traditional style, slept like a log both nights. Full English breakfast very good, three kinds of homemade jam including a sublime rhubarb and ginger. The walk into Durham takes about 35 minutes, or there's a bus...

We stayed here because it was half way between a birthday venue in Consett and the Beamish Museum. The owner is very welcoming but the house is very dated. The small patterned wallpaper and purple- lined curtains (the patterned side was oddly facing the outside) and bed covers made our room rather gloomy. Although the bed was comfortable (the bedding...

Visiting Durham just for a night, this place is just so very relaxing. Very quiet and a wonderful host. Liz helped along the way for directions! Highly recommended and would not hesitate in staying here again.

My wife and I stayed at Broom Farm overnight en route to Scotland. This is a fine old house and was once the most important house in the village. It is in a quiet location with ample parking yet only a short drive into Durham for some sightseeing. Elizabeth gave us a warm welcome and useful advice about the area....

Like it says there was very little, if anything, to fault the guesthouse on. The place could do with a bit of an update, still very 1970s. The room and en suite however were clean and tidy, the breakfast was very nice (full English included in the price). Very friendly hostess, although she never told me her name! That being...

Best cooked breakfast ever. I still don't know how they manage to make these perfect fried eggs. We were visiting Durham to view some properties as we were planning on moving here. The owners are really nice and we got some nice comments on the properties during breakfast + tips on cycling in Durham etc. It was really nice. We...

We were traveling through the area of Durham and needed a bed for the night! What we got was a lot more! Perfect rest, it's very quiet and a nice view from the window of the beautiful landscape of Durham. Parking is very secure in the back of the house. It's cozy room, super nice breakfast and very kind host....

Just have to reiterate everything jojo550 said. We stayed a few weeks earlier in I think the same room and agree about those funny things happening....yes, our TV did come on by itself! It's absolutely a wonderful place to stay and Liz and hubby provide the very best possible hospitality. The accommodation is comfortable, welcoming and homely and the history...

This is a wonderful haunting experience, I loved this timeworn building, with all its realistic furniture. This building filled all my senses, to the point where the T.V. turned on by itself and my husband felt like the duvet was being pulled off him in the middle of the night. Liz's service, charm and breakfast's are amazing. You really couldn't...
