I had a superb stay here. Excellent service - nothing was too much trouble. The bed was really comfy and there were lots of nice touches in the room to make it feel special. A real treat, I came to the area for work but coming back tot he hotel felt like a holiday!

I brought my mam and my nanna here for Afternoon Tea for Mother's Day. It was absolutely lovely. Afterwards we sat in the bar and had a cocktail. We will deffinitely be back. Maybe for a birthday Afternoon Tea. Thank you very much.

We recently stayed in the Garden room of this hotel. Reception is lovely, staff were very friendly. We were shown to our room. It was beautifully decorated but a bit on the small side with a very comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. The shower was very good. The picnic basket was a lovely touch, though we were a bit...

I visited here with family for a meal for my birthday. The food was excellent (with good vegetarian options), and the staff extremely friendly and professional. I was impressed by the wine selection also. The location is very good for central Durham, only a ten minute walk from the train station.

Booked the bijoux loft for two nights. We arrived a little earlier than check in time but they let us have room earlier. Lots of stairs ( about 6 flights) and a strong smell of damp as you climb them, but it is an old building. The room was very small and felt cramped, shabby sheek decor, bathroom had a...

Dear Dinkybennett. Thank you for your elaborate feedback. Due to the building construction we are unable to place a lift, which does make for a few stairs. It should not have smelled damp, and we do thank you for this feedback as we will look into it. The Bijoux Loft is, as the name suggests, our smallest and cosiest room...

We stayed in the Edwardian Express themed room, decked out like a train carriage which we thought was rather fun. The bathroom had the most fantastic shower which is always a bonus. We both had eggs benedict for breakfast, perfect poached eggs and the bacon was spot on. The only reason it doesn't get five out of five is that...

Dear Emma, Thank you for this brilliant and extensive review of your stay in the Edwardian Express room. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed the stay in your room and your breakfast. The on-street parking is currently more difficult than usual due to the building opposite being renovated. This has caused a lot of parking to close during the...

Small boutique hotel with lots of character. In room tea and coffee making facilities were good. Very convenient location for visiting students at Durham. Excellent Eggs Benedict at breakfast. Pleasant and helpful staff made me feel welcome.

Stayed here for a valentines getaway in the jardin room which was beautiful. Overlooking the cricket pitch with private hot tub. Room was very clean and breakfast was also lovely. Staff were very polite and friendly. Ideal location also. Will definitely stay again, the only downfalls were the price (could possibly be a bit cheaper!) and the fact we arrived...

Dear Rachael, Thank you for your positive review on your stay in Le Jardin room at The Town House. We do apologise for your 15 minute wait. We have to wait until the rooms have all been checked, and this is always done by 3pm, and to make sure they are up to our standards we can't check anyone in...

An excellent meal last night at the Townhouse , very opulent decor , a varied menu brilliantly cooked , cracking service plated with quality ingredients . Only Finbarrs would surpass this level cooking in the City and not on all fronts either .Have not returned yet to the Old "Gourmet spot" that is now DH1 as Gourmet spot it was...

Visited the restaurant last night and yet again no ribeye or T-bone steak left on a Saturday night. Only visited twice and both times this has happened. How can you run out on a Saturday night. Food we did have was very nice but it did spoil my husbands birthday as he wanted a tbone.
