£35 per night was a bargain for such a modern room. Friendly and welcoming staff. Good location. Very clean. I totally recommend it. I will use it again if visiting Barnstaple in the future. Thank you.

Hotel's Favourite
Visited this Premier Inn as a stopping point to avoid the Saturday staycation traffic. It was good to receive a very warm and friendly welcome, albeit behind screens. Both the rooms we stayed in were immaculately clean and we felt as safe as we were going to in this post lockdown period. Full credit to the hardworking cleaners who are doing their best in such a challenging period. We ate dinner and breakfast in the Barum Gate restaurant next door. Again, the staff were doing their best and keeping cheerful and friendly though the service was a little slow. Our waiter over dinner was a little too fond of chatting for extended periods which may not have been wise. Make sure if you want breakfast to book; they will turn you away if you try on the morning. The PI breakfast offer is not as lavish or quite such good value, but it more than did its purpose.

It's a Premier Inn! It won't come as a surprise to anyone who has stayed in one, as they are all standard fit. What disappointed me on this stay was that they have pushed the price up to almost double what I paid a few weeks ago, before Lockdown was eased slightly. Also, for Covid reasons, some of the furniture has been removed. There is no restaurant or bar on site. There is no air conditioning either, so to charge £103 for an overnight stay seems somewhat money-grabbing and taking advantage of key workers, the only people allowed to overnight stay at these hotels. Shame!

The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful and the room clean and comfortable. There were no dining facilities due to Covid 19 but the hotel provided a list of local restaurants able to deliver meals we could eat in our room. A very good stay spoilt by noisy customers in the room above at 12 30 am and 1 30 am. Ask for a room upstairs when booking!!
