We needed a welcome weekend break and the Imperial provided it for us in spades. Food comfort and service continue on a high level with with genuine friendliness and impeccable professionalism. Dinner on the three nights was both substantial and of a high quality. Friday evening saw us with Mulligatawny Soup for me and Maple grilled Mackerel for my wife...

We stayed for a weekend and wanted to stay longer. Our room overlooked the river, was bright and well appointed and the staff were really exceptional. This is a lovely hotel with style and elegance, just charming and it is obvious that it is a very well run hotel with a client base who appreciate it. Well done family Brend!

The Hotel is very comfortable and the staff very attentive. The food was excellent and our room very comfortable and quiet. The Hotel is five minutes walk from the town where there are plenty of shops and an excellent market.

Lovely hotel with excellent food. Staff were very attentive with nothing to much trouble. This was our third visit and we will definately be going back again. Good base for visiting interesting places such as Arlington Court, a National Trust property.

Great location. Food and service was top class. This was our third visit to Barnstaple and we always stay aT the Imperial. The hotel seems to appeal in particular to a certain generation most of whom have experienced a lifetime of hotel visits and obviously. Have a very discerning taste. Would recommend to everyone.

Room 117 overlooks the river across a quiet road. The room was clean and well furnished. The food was very good and offered a wide choice. Some may describe this hotel as old fashioned but a not to strict dress code (in the restaurant) and the pre-allocated table should not put you off.
