Stayed here as it was close to my daughter's wedding venue. We were warmly greeted by the owner Mel Woke up to a lovely breakfast . The accommodation is in a great setting and not to far from Barrow Would love to stay here again

Stayed at Roosecote guest house with two friends for a short break in the Lakes. The house was lovely, rooms are simply and nicely decorated and very clean. Full English breakfast was freshly prepared for us every day at a time we requested, with an additional choice of cereals etc. There was also a fridge, microwave, and toaster available to use. The two shared bathrooms were kept really clean even though all of the rooms were full, and the house and grounds in general was beautiful, with easy parking right outside. The owner was really helpful in recommending places to visit and checking we had everything we needed. It was a great base location to explore the Lake District. Would highly recommend a stay and hope to be back next year! Thanks for a lovely stay!

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. Upon arrival, we were told we were having breakfast at 8.30 to make it easier for the host. We asked for an extra pillow and were given 2 pillows and pillowcases to sort out. The doors to the rooms don't fit properly, so you can see into some of the rooms. There was no wardrobe in the room we stayed in, just a hook on the back of the door which had one and a half (broken) coathangers for our clothes to go on. we were given a chipped cup and no bottled water was provided. the kettle had to be filled in the bathroom..... not very hygienic. The shared bathroom had a hand towel which, if there, was rarely changed. We were not provided with a personal handtowel. The bathroom was often left dirty, with water and dirty towels on the floor. It was not regularly cleaned. The soap was watered down and shower bottles were empty. The breakfast room had a water container that was empty, empty cereal containers and insufficient crockery and cutlery. The owner was not there one morning to provide breakfast as she was at a party. She did offer breakfast, but we had eaten some toast-though we had to butter our toast with the back of a spoon from the bedroom because there was no cutlery left. Another guest had has toast out of a bowl. It's a nice building in a fairly good location but the very poor attention to detail means that we would not recommend this place to anyone.

Great location, with a great host who ensured that I was both informed and made to feel very welcome, nice large room with loads of tea and coffee, only down side is that the room I had was not on-suite, unfortunately a change in plans meant that I missed breakfast, however the host (Mel) packed me off with a lovely sausage sandwich (I hadn`t asked for one she`s just that thoughtful), would stay again and happy to recommend.

Upon arrival we got greeted from Mel, we arrived earlier than stated and Mel was very welcoming an gave us an informative tour, we had everything we needed in our room and towels was provided for the nice warm shower, there is also a deep bath if you prefer that, breakfast was lovely (full English) and cereals was provided if preferred, we went to south lakes safari zoo which was a 15 minute drive away and is so interactive with the animals then went to kapadokya turkish restaurant for our tea on the night time (about 4 miles away) and that was probably the best food I’ve had for years and would highly recommend, you’ve also got the beach just round the corner and all the views are amazing, would highly recommend and thanks for having us Mel
