As+ a base for a short stay in Bowness, the Holmlea was ideal. We were made to feel very much at home by Gill who attended to our every need. The accommodation was in pristine condition, spotlessly clean and not a blemish anywhere on the décor. The room itself was equipped with all one could want and the bed was...

The welcome from Gill was very warming. The room was excellent, and extremely clean as was the en-suite. The hospitality tray was well stocked and the room spacious.Breakfast was very enjoyable and well cooked. Location was good for walking into Bowness and we found plenty of places to eat.Gill was very helpful with her knowledge of the trips we wanted...

Lots of notices, do this, don't do that. Close to the town centre so fairly convenient. A bit pricey, but that's the Lake District. A bit light on the veggie breakfast options. Car parking was a bonus.

On balance our 3 night stay was ok, no more, no less. Probably not the place to stay if you like to drink water while in your room, or if you like to be clean. Good points - good location, clean room & bathroom, parking (with potential daily car shuffling) Bad points - no drinking water in room, just one...

Thank you for your comments. With regard to drinking water, we have a notice in the room folder (which you must have not read) advising guests that we are happy to refill water bottles. In fact we did refill your bottle each day when you went out on your walks. The toiletries (shower gel and soap) are complimentary for your...

We had a wonderful 2 night stay, our first time to the lake district and will not be the last. Very clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were fabulous. Will definitely return one day. Gill, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. Janet M

We have just returned from three nights at this guest house in lovely Bowness. We were in the top bedroom with its own shower & toilet. The room was very adequate, bed and linen very fresh and very comfortable. The room was very clean as was the shower and loo, there was plenty of space for hanging and storing clothes....

We so pleased you enjoyed your stay and it was lovely to meet you. I can't take all the credit for the poached eggs as my husband cooks these. I will pass on your compliments. Hope to see you again.

Holmlea is a very welcoming bed and breakfast. We were met at the door by Jill who was most attentive. The bedroom was cosy and very comfortable with a good selection of tea, coffee etc. The room was bright and airy and had plenty of storage space. It was extremely quiet even though all rooms were booked - we didn't...

The owner was very friendly and helpful, the room was lovely, only one negative was that you could not drink the water in your room and the water pressure was iffy. A great location, within walking distance of all amenities.

We needed an overnight stop before walking the Dales Way to Ilkley. Holmlea was clean, comfortable and efficient. It is within easy walking distance of Lake Windermere and a number of bars and restaurants.
