Stayed for two nights in March for Husband's birthday. Booked a suite with a balcony overlooking the lake and wasn't disappointed. Very well looked after by the wonderful staff. Enjoyed a good 3 course meal in restaurant and breakfast the following morning. This hotel is very well situated for other restaurants, shops, harbour etc.

Stayed at McDonalds Old English Hotel in March for 2 nights. We decided to book for our anniversary readying About the hotel we thought it sounded amazing. We paid £316 through Booking.Com. Quite expensive for 2 nights but we thought it sounded great so we went ahead and booked. First we arrived and tried to check in we were informed...

Room is decent with beautiful lake view. Room size is not big, no air con, refrigerator, 5x mirror in bathroom, clock or safety deposit box. Few amenities in bathroom only Hair and body wash, small soap and less quality if cotton pads. Surprised there is no shower cap! You should bring cotton buds and cotton pads as well. Slipper, hair...

Visited here in March. We'd been recommended the spa by a nearby hotel we were staying at. The spa features were okay, but only because they were free. We read they had a Jacuzzi? This was nowhere to be seen. We had a massage which was "£43 for 30 minutes" according to the receptionist. My massage lasted 20 minutes. And...

Dear Joy W, We appreciate your feedback on your recent visit to the hotel as well the spa facilities. I thought I point out that our leisure club never had jacuzzi facilities neither do we advertise this on either our website or websites like booking.com so do not understand where you would have read that we do have this facility....

We have stayed in multiple places in windermere from large hotels, bed and breakfasts and log cabins. By far this has been the worst value for money. I do not mind spending money on a decent hotel and regularly do so however i do not like being ripped off. We paid 200 pounds for a one night stay, bed and...

Enjoyed a short 3 day break at the Old England. Hotel standards are still very good and staff very helpful, we both found the standard of decorations to be in good condition. There will always be areas that could be improved or to complain about but, we both felt that overall standards were good. Service in the lounge during the...

We booked directly on the MacDonald Hotel's website and got a good deal for dinner bed and breakfast. We received a friendly welcome at check in and were thrilled when we were given a complimentary upgrade to an executive room (thank you to Paul for this lovely gesture). Our room was brilliant, the views were stunning and the extras in...

Hotel recommended by a friend who visits in January each year so we booked a 3 night B&B winter break in a Feature King at the end of February, despite some concerns having read the negative reviews. We are seasoned travellers in the UK & overseas and very picky about where we stay ( often changing the allocated room!) but...
