My husband, myself 1 year old son and our two dogs visited today for lunch. We arrived at 12.30pm we hadn't booked but were welcomed to a nice size table to accommodate us all. The waitress was friendly and we had a pint of estrella which was lovely. We order a starter and main course for the adults and a...

It is a few years since we last visited. Last occasion, I would have awarded 1 star. There must have been a change of ownership. On entering there was a nice buz of happy customers and staff ready to welcome us. We had booked a table on line so were greeted by name. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch. Beautifully...

Beautiful country pub in a great setting Good selection of beers and ales plus a well balanced wine menu. The usual spirits. Menu - excellent proper country pub food. Biggest hunk of Roast Beef I've had in years, an exceptional Stew and Dumplings and properly home cooked kids meals (exceptional portions too). Not a pricey pub - brilliant value for...

We found ourselves with a free evening last minute and tried to find somewhere local we had not visited before. We have definitely been missing out! The staff were welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere was warm and homely. The food was out of this world! We heard nothing but praise from other diners. We had the black pudding scotch egg...

Lovely relaxing country pub Amazing food and wonderful staff. Warm welcome on our latest visit, one of the staff asked if our 18 month old would like a toy to play with, and presented him with a lovely Wooden pull along duck. Every time we have visited this wonderful pub it never disappoints.

Stayed at this lityle gem on Saturday 10th December. The owners and staff were very friendly. The taxi was running late for our friends Wedding at nearby Riply Castle so the owner took us down in her car, what an Angel. The room was clean and well furnished, beds comfortable. Perfect location for Ripley Castle Thank you

Booked table on line, very busy, offered a table only half hour after our requested time. Warm welcome, super surrounds, excellent table. The Sunday lunch menu catered for meat, fish and vegetarian eaters. I had pork belly, my partner the roast beef. Both served with Yorkshire pudding, roast veg and potatoes plus a dish of other new potatoes and vegetables All...

This place was recommended by our hosts (Pat & Martin) at Willow House in Rufforth, who also booked it for us. We were not disappointed, the food was great as was the service, this is truly a great place to eat and drink, I would definitely recommend this place if you are staying in the area.

Made a purposeful 40 mile trip from the coast to sample lunch before heading to York for some retail therapy. The choice of eating establishment chosen from a search on tripadvisor and reading other positive reviews. You wouldn't just stumble across this little pub as it is off the beaten track in a quaint little village, the exterior of the...

Just driving by and noticed the sign on the road. Took a chance and drove a few hundred yards to this village pub. What a fine! We were looking for a place to have Sunday roast and we found a great one. We had a sharing mix of meats and the food was plentiful and tasty. The pork belly was...
