This is a dear old hostel and one of my favourite places on the Pennine Way, which it is located specifically to support. As such it's almost a duty for Wayfarers to support it back, particularly as it was threatened with closure a few years ago. It's a lovely place to stay, a beautiful old building in the heart of...

The hostel still has the feel of the original building, with wooden floors and fittings and a big welcoming hall, while being clean and comfortable and spacious (in other words, it hasn't suffered in the way some YHs have from their conversion). Dufton is a lovely village, with pub and coffee shop to match, in fabulous surroundings. Fresh flowers and...

When I tried to book a bed in the hostel at Dufton, it seemed that a bed in a shared dorm wasn't available. I settled for sole use of a four-bed dorm, which was quite pricey, considering the limited facilities and shared toilets and showers. Oddly enough, someone else found themselves in the same situation, and had taken a whole...

What more can I say ! We were a group on Coast to Coast bike ride and the team at the YHA had everything ready for us. The rooms were perfect, the lounge tidy and warm, there were hot drinks available for us and when the food arrived we were amazed at the quality of both evening meal and breakfast....

Was walking the Pennine Way and had booked into here for a night. To have one night with breakfast for just under £15 was amazing value. The rooms were standard youth hostel and you had to pay an extra £2 for a towel. A great breakfast in the morning comprising of cooked breakfast and help yourself to tea, coffee, cereal,...

Converted Victorian era stone built houses well situated by the village green and looking out across to the Pennines. Parking on-site. Staff efficient, friendly and welcoming. Building is well maintained and decorated. Dorms spacious and comfortable. Modern toilets and showers. Guest kitchen a bit small, but well equipped. Comfy lounge. Nearest shops in Appleby. Pleasant stay. Good base for walking...

We stayed here as part of a large group of families & friends for a 40th birthday. We had the whole place to ourselves. Great place, rooms clean & tidy. Bathrooms clean & good facilities. The garden was great for our kids to play in safely. It was a no iPad weekend so kids played swing ball & games outside...

Simon was a delight! I was worried about sharing a dormitory - I ended up sharing with two lovely ladies. Bedroom and bathrooms were immaculate. The shared kitchen was .... A shared kitchen along with all the delights that brings. But overall 10/10, absolute bargain and would stay again.
