My wife and I got married here on 6th August 2016, and it was absolutely fantastic. I cannot speak highly enough of the venue. From the owners, who were always there any time we visited and always seemed to remember you and were happy to chat, to the waiting team on the actual day; talk about service with a smile!...

I had booked a room on the assumption that there would be a working fireplace in the room as indicated on the hotel website. There was no fireplace and when I made enquiries in this regard was told that most of the rooms did not have a fireplace and that the fires did not work in the rooms that did...

The hotel combines the best qualities of a country house hotel with very attentive staff and exceptionally good dining. We had a delightful ground floor suite and woke to three peacocks peering in the French window. Roaring fires and excellent hospitality. 20 acres of gardens and grounds situated beside the River Teith but within easy walking distance of the centre...

We stayed here for one night on our way north. We arrived at night and we're welcomed with roaring open fires. The lounge an library are lovely. The whole hotel is full of character. Sloping floors and wonky walls it's oozing history. We had evening meal and breakfast. Clean crisp white linen and excellent service. Food was nice but not...

My fiancé and I visited on Saturday 18th Feb, to view the roman camp as a potential wedding venue. We met with the manager, who showed us around. Initially we were both very keen and the manager said he would email us that night with prices, available dates etc. 2 weeks and 4 calls from us later and we have...

Just had our wedding reception here and cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. The highlight, as other reviewers have said was the quality of food however the staff were also very friendly and couldn't be faulted. This hotel has a wonderful layout, with lots of history and combined with views of the local river this is a great place...

Beautiful hotel about as far from a standard chain as you could get. Lovely public rooms with open fires and a wonderful comfortable bedroom with a nice view of the gardens. All of the staff were very friendly, chatty and efficient but the highlight of the hotel is the food. Dinner was exceptional and our anticipated 4 course meal turned...

Wow, what a place! So luxurious and cosy. Staff are very attentive and welcoming and not like the usual run of the mill hotel, very personal. My friend and I arrived bit early to check in so had coffee and their homemade shortbread in the large cosy lounge next to the smallest, cutest chapel. The soft furnishings are so tasteful...

Got a 2 night stay with dinner voucher for Christmas. The Roman Camp is an old quaint building. Lovely friendly welcome on arrival and a huge bedroom. The room was warm and cosy, with all facilities you could possibly require. Sometimes in old buildings, original features have to give way to the requirements of the guest. But not so here....

Our first time here and had a lovely three night stay over Valentines day. We had Valentines dinner in the restaurant and the food and service were both terrific in the beautiful dining room. The bedroom was well appointed for the price and the public areas (Drawing Room, Library and Bar) were beautifully furnished (very traditional) and very relaxing with...
