This is the second time I've been to great Fosters and I find it the most relaxing place ever. We were looked after right from our welcome through the party and to our departure. I would recommend it to anybody. Very friendly place to visit.

We dined with friends in the Tudor Room and loved the more intimate atmosphere. Food was excellent and well cooked and presented. We indulged in some very good wine from an extensive list and were even tempted to have a different wine with the cheese course. The only part of the evening that didn't quite fit was the bar area,...

For the second year running my ladies group had their Christmas get-together at Great Fosters. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the Staff very efficient and polite. We had a private dining room with a large oval table which was ideal for our group of 18 ladies. Lovely surroundings and atmosphere. Thanks to everyone!

My wife and I returned to one of our favourite hotels in the world, Great Fosters. The second you walk through the door you get a lovely meet and greet. Then on to reception where you are made to feel so welcome. Once again, our room called Waterloo was very nice indeed as are all the other rooms we've ever...

Delicious afternoon treat! The cucumber sandwiches are yum! Very nice and special place! Nice thing to do for an occasion or if you have visitors. Architecturally this is a beautiful building with loads of history!

We came for an important family tea. The staff were very understanding, efficient and discreet. The grounds are beautiful and very varied with a beautiful wooden bridge which is quite interesting to negotiate, topiary, amphitheatre, ponds, lake and garden rooms. A lovely place to escape but unfortunately you can hear the nearby motorway. The tea in our private room was...

Went to stay with my husband to attend the evening function of a wedding. We didn't know much about the hotel, but were really impressed by the overall experience. The buildings themselves are beautiful. Some Elizabethan, other much more modern, but really sympathetically done. We stayed in one of the Cloister rooms away from the main building, which made it...

Was lucky enough to be a guest at a beautiful winter wedding here recently. We were greeted by staff at the front and shown through to the pre-wedding area where we had a drink before going through to the ceremony area. Afterwards there were wonderful canapés and drinks of either champagne or mulled wine or something soft. We were then...

Hotel was very luxurious and very pleasant staff at all times willing to assist. We were staying for a family wedding so really only experienced private dining which was very tasty and well presented. As it is quite expensive would be suitable for a one night treat and I am sure is very pleasant in the summer with the patio...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Probably built as a Royal Hunting lodge and very much a stately home since the 16th century, Great Fosters is now a prestigious hotel, awarded 4 red stars by the AA. Set amongst 50 acres of gardens and parkland, the hotel is a Grade One listed building blessed with the grandeur of 16th century England and luxurious modern facilities. Its past is evident in the mullioned windows, tall chimneys, fireplaces and brick finials, while the Saxon moat, crossed by a Japanese bridge, surrounds three sides of the formal garden. All the suites and bedrooms are individually decorated. The bedrooms in the Main House are adorned with tapestries and antiques, whilst the bedrooms in The Cloisters are more contemporary in style. The refurbished Coach House offers luxurious accommodation with the latest plasma screens, i-pod docking stations and fabulous bathrooms. The hotel has two restaurants - The Estate Grill has been awarded two rosettes by the AA and serves a simple and seasonal menu with many of the dishes using produce grown on the estate and cooked on a Josper grill. The Tudor Room was awarded a Michelin star and three rosettes by the AA in October 2016 and is an intimate sophisticated restaurant open for lunch on a Thursday & Friday and for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive. ... more   less
