We loved this hotel. The staff were really helpful and pleasant, the room was light, comfortable and modern, with a great view over the rooftops. The windows could be fully opened. The breakfast was more than adequate.

We stayed as part of a Rabbies tour. Mounthoolie lane is a walking lane not a driving lane. Nice spacious hotel room with a good bathroom. Near the main street where shops and restaurants are. Hotel is attached to a bar where we got drinks one night. Breakfast was good.

This hotel was a bit expensive, but all that was available at the time of booking. From the outside it looks a bit dowdy, but inside it has been beautifully refurbished with all modern conveniences. The only meal we had there was breakfast, and it was well prepared and presented.

This is by far the most updated hotel we visited in Kirkwall. Modern, clean, comfortable rooms at a reasonable price. Breakfast was okay - I would have liked to have seen a tad more generosity with the portion sizes however, that's me being overly critical. I would certainly recommend this hotel as a first choice.

Originally, I booked this hotel through Booking.com. Their software is not terribly intuitive and I ended up booking the wrong dates. So I also booked The Stenness hotel and The Kirkwall Hotel before there was no room left on the island. I looked for B and Bs but none were available. Everything was selling out fast. I emailed the hotel...

The hotel is perfectly located within Kirkwall within easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. It has a quaint pub attached where we had a nice dinner and drinks. The hotel is also conveniently located on the island for sight-seeing. Breakfast each morning was good. Compared to other places we stayed during our 2 week trip through Scotland, it was...

This hotel is spoiled by the rude middle aged woman at the reception in the mornings. She is snappy if you would like to check out before 7:30am. There are nicer places to stay in Kirkwall. Also one of our party complained about the food and the reply he got was 'well that's just what it is' (from the same...
