The end of February is perhaps not the best time to visit Orkney, but the vast room, kindly staff and good breakfast meant our wild, wet and windy 3 nights were relaxing and enjoyable. The bed was so comfortable...

My wife and I have been going to Matchmakers Lounge bar for a few years and have almost always enjoyed our meals. Lately standards have been slipping, culminating in a poor meal last week. It took twenty five minutes for our meal to appear. My fish pie was red hot in places and icy cold in others. The peas were...

We were in town to do a Christmas shop, for the coming festivities. So as we often d o we dropped in to Matchmakers, on this occasion we decided on a starter & a sweet, so we ordered the Cullen Skink (soup). We have had it many times in various places but this was the best we have had, so...

This hotel was very central, the perfect location for my work trip and was easy to find from the airport. The reception was unattended when I arrived but there is a bell to ring and someone came promptly. The rooms were modern and fairly large, the bathroom looked like it had recently been renovated. All the usual facilities however I...

Stayed at the Albert for two nights during a work visit. Great location, walking distance to everything you need. Lovely hotel, rooms well-equipped, large modern wet room, immaculate and very comfortable. Fabulous breakfast and attentive staff. Only have one wee negative. While the bathroom was modern, spacious with plenty free products, the shower head was in dire need of some...

I booked the table the day before but needn't have bothered as the restaurant was ominously empty apart from 3 others. We ordered straight away & then had to wait at least half an hour for our starters in this empty room, on arrival the lentil soup was ok, haggis fritters terribly greasy & over rich, I had the local...

A colleague and I stayed in this hotel while in Kirkwall. The rooms were very modern and beautifully decorated and the bathroom was incredibly clean. The only negatives that I found was the sheets on the bed were made of a material that just made it impossible to get warm so I spent the first ten minutes in bed making...

Was very pleased with this hotel , the room was clean and comfortable. the bathroom was large and the reception staff were friendly and helpful to us. Great pub right next door with great food too (especially the lamb). Would have been nice to have breakfast served earlier though as had to leave at 0700 when they start service. Bus...

I booked a room for five nights for my wife and I. We arrived late (11.00 pm) and had a little trouble finding it by car. Eventually we did get there and was greeted by a young lady who checked us in.. She showed us to the lift and sent us on our way. We took the lift to the...

The hotel room was clean and roomy. Desk staff was great. Breakfast was first class. Wifi was inconsistent at best.Hotel was well located for walking around Kirkwall. There is a small pub attached to the hotel.
