A lovely little country pub with a good restaurant and bar. The staff were very helpful, the room bigger than expected and very clean and comfortable (very quiet at night) and not too far from Manchester airport.

The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. Our dinner was lovely and breakfast was delicious served by Warren (?) in front of the open fire. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, even when we discovered that we had left our jackets in the room. They packaged them up and we organised a courier to pick them up tomorrow. Our...

I am sorry to give this an average rating as The Dog is perfect in so many ways, location, restaurant and friendly staff but the beds are uncomfortable standard doubles - too small for my husband and I to sleep comfortably - even staying a second time in a different room on my own the bed springs literally caught my...

The room was adequate for one night, but too small for a longer stay, but it is a country pub, not a large hotel. Beds where too hard. Can't fault the staff, they were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, but I've never had streaky bacon anywhere else, obviously it was fatty and it was quite chewy.

We had heard a lot of good reviews and were looking forward to a night away. Unfortunately the room was poor, dusty and dirty. Shower was very poor. However we were looking forward to the meal. Unfortunately this was poor as well. Indeed the steak was the worst I had eaten. However the atmosphere was good. Breakfast was good and...

Very nice pub. Ordered shared starter devilled whitebait.Never had this dish before and it was delicious.Very lightly battered with a small side accompaniment of tartare sauce. Main course ordered Waldorf salad.Surprising ingredients as never had Waldorf salad before, which included apple, grapes, walnuts as well as salad leaves and chicken.Overall it was delicious and the combination of ingredients and flavours worked well....

Beautiful day and I and a friend enjoyed a drink on the patio, after a trip to Cheshire and particularly Chester, at the back of the hotel - very pleasant. Did not have the opportunity to eat but it looked fantastic. Definitely a place for a return visit.

The Dog is by far the best pub in Cheshire. I go a few times a month and it is always scrumptious food and atmosphere. You are also able to bring dogs which is an added bonus especially after a long walk on a Sunday. I am not a big fan of roast dinners, but my family are and they...

The pub has a restaurant area so decided to eat in there. The lighting was very low key, and I found the menu a little difficult to read, so moved to a table directly underneath some lamps. I asked what vegetables came with the food we ordered, and the response was that there were side orders on the menu, so...

Quite simply, I had a thoroughly enjoyable overnight stay at The Dog last Wednesday whilst attending the Annual Brainwave Clay Pigeon Shoot at nearby Coleshaw Hall. My original booking - through Gareth - was as friendly as could be, as was my welcome on arrival by David; which was much appreciated after a four hour drive from London. The food...
