We found the Hightae purely through Trip Advisor when we were looking for somewhere to stay overnight on the way to a week in Scotland. Rather than go for the "hotel off the motorway" we were looking for somewhere a bit different and a bit special. What can I say - it does what it says on the tin! Nice...

We stayed at the Hightae Inn at the end of August on our way North from London to the Isle of Arran. The inn was recommended by a friend who stayed there a couple of times for the same purpose. He said that it was a really good place to stay and eat. We agree with him. Very friendly and...

Completely unexpected. Hightae Inn exceeded every aspect of the hospitality business. The room was comfortable, large, and very private with all the modern facilities blended into the luxurious designs of days of old. Mark and Morag Cuthbertson are perfectly matched with their talents, skills, and they generously give attention to each guest, providing them with a lasting memory of a...

We stayed at the Hightae Inn midd august for three nights. A warm welcome when we arrived on the Friday early evening. We booked dinner in the restaurant which was just lovely, Morag certainly can cook with flare so well presented. Mark served us and kept us topped up with Beer and wine, even a tipple of the old whisky...

What a great find! Mark and Morag are great hosts, providing a very warm, friendly welcome, a relaxed, humorous atmosphere, comfort and delicious home cooking. I am so glad I changed our stay from 1 night to 2. We were able to enjoy a relaxed Friday evening in the cosy bar, after a hard day at work, knowing we'd have...

Mark & Morag are probably the most perfect B&B owners we've ever had the pleasure to stay with! Upon arrival we were welcomed by name rather than having to be looked up on a pc. Morag's food was incredible & Mark was the perfect front of house host. The room was spotless & extremely comfortable. Just what we needed after...

We only stayed one night on the way up from the South of England to the North of Scotland but were delighted with the standard of the room. We stayed in Room 1 (?) on the ground floor with a King sized bed and it was really comfortable and well appointed. Mark and Morag were excellent hosts and the food...

We only stayed one night and how disappointing...wish it could have been longer. Morag and Mark are perfect at what they do. It is a small establishment that offers great interiors, excellent food and luxurious rooms. The choice of whisky is terrific and Mark's ability to describe it verges on poetic. Only five rooms means a very personal service that...

Hightae is such a tiny village that it is hard to envisage a competent boutique hotel where they get it right. The husband and wife proprietors have created an enjoyable atmosphere by hard work and getting it right. Our room was medium sized with a queen bed, a good bathroom with a small but space aged shower. The food in...

“On a practical note, it was impossible to fill the kettle under the tap in the bathroom basin. Also, fresh milk in the room was provided on arrival, but not available for the early morning cuppa as the owners were not around to request it; uht milk would have been acceptable, but not supplied.”
