Unfortunately I had a good idea to go somewhere nice for cream teas and lunch today. I took my mother and grandmother to this hotel as had Google where to go in tavistock for a cream tea! Well what a mistake, it was awful. At first the entrance from the carpark is really nice and pleasant. Then as we arrived...

I booked this hotel to celebrate our 39th Anniversary which isn't actually very far from where I live, but was close to where I needed to be the following day. When I booked over the telephone we were upgraded to a 4 poster room (as I said it was our Anniversary) which was appreciated. On arrival we were met with...

Booked ahead to be in same accommodation as a visiting friend from USA. We had a warm welcome from the reception staff and they were the focal point for all enquiries during our stay. The bar is a popular pop-in place for non-residents and their dogs enjoying the wide range of drinks and snacks available all times of the day....

A really good central hotel with free car parking. The rooms are not the cheapest around, but the rooms are comfortable and the service is beyond reproach. The breakfast is excellent. Really helpful and polite staff also.

I was surprised that no one offered to carry my suitcase upstairs, I'm 70 and pretty well fit for my age, but to carry the suitcase upstairs and halfway round the hotel was not the start to my break I anticipated. When I went to the desk as I had a problem with my key, another customer was asked if...

We've just spent a very pleasant two night break at this charming and comfortable hotel. Our room was on the ground floor as my husband is disabled and incorporated a well equipped wet room. A parking space was reserved for us and help provided with our luggage. We were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble and...

The Bedford is ideally located near the centre of Tavistock. My bedroom was spacious and clean, but there were 64 steps up to my room! Not good for elderly guests. Both the Bar and Lounge were very comfortable with an "old world" feel about them and some great paintings. The bed was very comfortable and parking was easy and close...

Lovely, well maintained Hotel dating back to 1822, Locally employed staff who were efficient and helpful. Food in the restaurant was a very good standard and all sourced locally. Thoroughly recommended

My wife and I like to go to the Bedford for morning coffee every time we go to Tavistock. Old world style .. relaxed atmosphere surround by good paintings and seated in comfortable armchairs . The coffee served beautifully.. just the job. The service has always been pleasant too.

The BMW Motorcycle club recently held it's annual AGM at this hotel. The room it was held in was bright and air conditioned (needed for the hot air generated). The rooms were clean and ours well appointed. The evening meal for around 60 was served well the food was hot and tasty. The only criticism was the reception. There appeared...
