Christmas office party - where to start? Starters served before we had sat down. Informed management that we had not all arrived - food had to come out of the kitchen, even the soup which was then covered with a side plate. Starters not all cleared away before main course served. Things got worse, food was cold, meat if you...

We'd driven past the turn off for this hotel many times so we're keen to try it. At a reasonable price ( midweek) of £6.50 the carvery is average. Nothing special, nothing fancy. Just a decent lunch. The decor of the place is tired, air vents blocked etc etc Really this is a venue waiting to be bought by a...

This is certainly one of the strangest places we have ever stayed. We arrived at 3.30pm on a Saturday in need of a bite to eat and a nice glass of wine after our journey only to be told that the bar and restaurant did not open until 5pm. There was no offer of advice on where we could get...

I stayed at this establishment in October last year and had a great stay. Since then it has gone down hill. There are new managers in place who need training! When I was here last year there was an elderly chap running the place on his own and the whole ambiance was wonderful, the staff were bubbly and seemed to...

I stayed here for 4 nights whilst my husband was in a nearby hospital and was very disappointed with the accommodation and the mangers attitude towards me. The property looks lovely on driving into the grounds and then that was things went wrong. I wasn't going to put this up on here and tried to find an email address to...

We stayed 2 nights at Highdown Hotel in a downstairs room for parents and an upstairs room for ourselves. Extremely disappointed from beginning to end. Upon arrival scruffy staff hanging around, no greeting or small talk or apology for keeping us waiting because they couldn't find the booking. Our upstairs room was filthy and looked like a furniture storage area....

We enjoyed beautifully cooked pork - one of several meats available - and a good selection of vegetables. Highly recommended. We understand that in future the carvery will be available at lunchtime, not evenings, but the management's notice informing visitors of this left something to be desired in the punctuation department. Ratings following are for carvery only as we did...

So disappointed in this hotel because it could be fantastic. It is such a wasted opportunity to create something outstanding. From the outside it is breathtaking, a truly beautiful building but that's where it ends unfortunately. I came here with my grown up son and we stayed for one night only. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and waited for quite...

Visited the Carvery today for lunch with two friends and had a lovely time. The staff were friendly and helpful and once we'd been seated at a table in an alcove we were asked what drinks we would like, which arrived promptly after placing our order. At that stage we were given three tickets for the Carvery lunch but we...

This restaurant was the venue of a big family get together. The restaurant is big enough to have this type of event. The carvery was very good with a selection of4 meats and we were left alone to chat. Not sure what it would be like for vegetarians as there wasn't a clear veggetarian choice.
