This hotel is situated in a lovely part of town and provided good food, parking and overall good value for money. All public areas appeared well cared for. Due to the nature of the building, I am sure that the rooms vary quite considerably. Mine was on the second floor, up in the roof space and consequently the ceiling only...

After staying last year we returned to find the same friendly welcome, good service and food. The lounge was very relaxing and the gardens were very pleasant. The Hotel could not have been in a better position.

Sixteen of us visited for a walking weekend with three dogs. The hotel was just the job, very welcoming, good food, no problem with dogs and walking gear. Comfortable lounge, limited but adequate bar, enclosed garden and 2 walk minutes from town centre and huge park. Penny and Stuart and Max the dog.

The hotel was a little dated but very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very nice & breakfast was wonderful with plenty of choice. We had the garden room which was lovely. The only two negatives is the pillows were very uncomfortable, there was one each and as flat as a pancake, the room didn't have a hairdryer which...

I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Every room should have a hairdryer in - some are in the draws of the dressing table though, so maybe you missed it. Apologies about the pillows, if you'd let us know we could have got them changed for you.

My husband and I stayed for a couple of nights. Our room was small but clean and adequate for our needs . It's a great location for seeing the delights of the Peak district. The food was good and the staff gave service with a smile

Lovely staff and great breakfast but that is where it ends..... Beware of room G3. The room is small with only a wet room which smelt quite badly and the hand rail for disabled people was rusty. The bed was unbelievably hard and uncomfortable. The room was the worst we had ever stayed in but as we were only staying...

I am glad you enjoyed your stay and that the staff were lovely... ... As I mentioned on check out why you would prefer to say nothing and stew for three days because "you don't like to complain" but happy enough to be unhappy for your stay and pop a review down is beyond me! I did say the room...

A 2 night stay in the Peak District. Very helpful staff and private off road parking. The evening dinner was excellent with the standard of a quality restaurant. A short, pleasant walk into town with the Regency and Edwardian architecture taking centre stage.

My sister and I stayed in room 104. A light and airy room. Very welcoming when we walked in. We had a Groupon deal of 1 night stay with evening meal and breakfast included. The staff were friendly and the service and food for both meals were excellent. We walked to Poole's Cavern up the road and also across Pavilion...

nice quiet area rooms were in need of a little TLC but warm , clean and comfortable, we mentioned the shower head and door was loose and the owner , who seemed to do everything bless him , fixed it straight away. Lovely staff , friendly and meals OK but we have never seen Beef Stroganoff served with potatoes, cabbage...

I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes David does indeed do most of the handyman work himself, the joys of owning our own small hotel. The stroganoff could have come with chips, salad or rice also, it is the guests choice.

Stayed in room 203 with a Groupon offer at the end of March and what a great pleasure it was. The hotel is no frills but is clean and very welcoming. Room was spot on, nice and warm , had little issue with bath which was quickly resolved with a phone call downstairs. Meals were very good, well presented and...
