We visited Old Hall yesterday specifically to enjoy an afternoon tea with relatives from Australia. I paid £60 for afternoon tea for 4 people and what we received i believe was an afternoon tea for two people, (one pot of tea, 4 slices of bread as finger sandwiches, 2 scones, 2 of each canapé & cake, which was not fresh)....

Spent one night visiting the local theater. Had a really nice meal pre show. The room was bright very clean and comfortable all little extras included, we had an excellent nights sleep in a really comfy king size bed. Spacious modern bathroom. After a good night out at the show we returned rather late to the hotel wine bar and...

Had lovely fish (huge) and chunky chips, also fresh home made pie in the wine bar, super menu and love all the varied paintings. Very friendly & professional staff. The meal in the restaurant with a different menu, was delicious also Will most most certainly be back

First impressions count! Reception is behind kiosk - separated from guests thus not responsive. First of all got wrong info about parking. Room OK, bit tired decoration, scuff marks, long corridors through aged decoration that really reminded us of old people's home decor. This was a freezing cold day, but no-one had bothered to turn on room heating before we...

Having looked about for somewhere open on New Years Day to take some visiting friends I found that the cockerel bar at the Old Hall was open. My friends and I had 3 different meals and thoroughly enjoyed them. I would highly recommend the chips. The staff were also brilliant with my allergies and sorted out a gluten free dessert...

Buxton is so beautiful - it's just a shame that there is not one proper five star hotel in the town (or anywhere near from what we could find). We stayed at the Old Hall between Christmas and New Year as it is a lovely old building in a perfect location - and the room rates were certainly quite affordable....

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review here on Trip Advisor. I really appreciate your comments regarding upgrading the Hotel. Opening up the front with a roaring fire does sound lovely. We do re decorate a few rooms periodically, keeping the traditional style. This tends to happen in January, when we are a little quieter. We are...

We stayed at the Old Hall Hotel on their Christmas package. We arrived on Christmas Eve with two elderly mothers. The whole experience was up to or exceeded expectations. Friendly caring staff, great food and interesting other guests. Yes the hotel is old - probably the oldest in England - but all furnishing where newish and the rooms where decorated...
