The decor throughout the hotel is tired and there is no breakfast available but there are plenty of cafes about. our basic double room on the third floor was spacious with two armchairs, comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities and had a good sized bathroom with separate shower and roll top bath. Really sad to find that plans have been... More

We Have just returned from a three night stay at this hotel. Our room was clean and very spacious. There was plenty of hot water, a big bath and a powerful shower. Exactly what is needed after a days hard hiking. Two beds in the room both very comfy. Plenty of tea and coffee. The hotel is tired but then... More

Took my girlfriend here for a couple nights after being unable to secure a B&B. After looking at the reviews I was a bit nervous about what we'd find there; I was picturing a run-down tat-fest but was instead greeted by a warm, cheerful hotel with comfy beds and a convenient location. It is indeed quirky, our room had pictures... More

I'm writing this sitting in the bath of my room, number 7, we (myself and son) are here for just a night as we are on a UK Road trip, the room is fine, not dirty, or smelly, yes it's worn, and the whole place needs a refurbished, which if the permission is obtained will turn it into another undoubtedly... Stayed for one night after coming for a days walking. I was doubting my choice after seeing some of the reviews but as long as your not expecting luxury its fine. Yes it's tired and in serious need of updating but we found the room and bathroom clean, the bed surprisingly comfortable and is in a great location. The cost... More

Had serious reservation due to reviews on here, but at least we were prepared for not the best. It was a clean room, fair size. The hotel is very dated and needs a major over haul, which doesn't look like it will come. A real ale pub, with no real ale available. £ 65 for the night, basic but ok.

I can entertain do quirky, it is part if being English but this place is ruddy expensive for quirky. You are greeted by a picture of Basil Faulty in the window , so the owners have a sense of humour but in reality they are laughing all the way to the bank. The place is run down, dirty, shabby, certainly... More

If you read the reviews before hand you would be like me terrified about what you were going to arrive to. When I arrived I won't lie I was horrified. Run down tatty looking place with Basil faulty picture on the front door. If you do decide to stay look past your first impression. I stayed what can only be... More
