The Palace Hotel is huge, it's tired and in need of an overhaul but it's very adequate for the price most people pay to stay there. A lot of guests (like my husband and I) are there using a Groupon voucher. The room was ok, not luxurious, but we didn't pay a fortune. The staff were great, friendly and attentive....

tl/dr: Book the Old Hall instead. Travelled from NYC to Buxton for a family weekend birthday celebration. The rooms are basically a joke. First set of rooms all smelt disgusting and were below ground with frosted glass for windows that looked out onto a wall. One of our rooms was room 50 which was way too small to be remotely...

We booked into The Palace Hotel for two nights as we were visiting friends in the area. We booked using the Britannia Hotel booking line and were not advised at the time of booking that we would be charged £4.50 per night for parking. We arrived at the hotel and checked in, the staff were very friendly and booked in...

My wife and I took her cousin to this hotel as her Christmas present from us. We had a Groupon offer for dinner bed and breakfast. Prior to going to the hotel we read some of the recent Trip Adviser reviews so were a little apprehensive. However, when we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised. The reception area...

I feel this hotel is in a bad position where it is a huge hotel in a small town. It is a lovely building but they also have to fill all the rooms for obvious business reasons meaning it is in a state of flux of trying to up keep the building and keep the qualities of the building. The...

The Palace Hotel has a lot of things going for it. It looks grand, both from the outside and in the main public areas (particularly the lobby, the sweeping central staircase and the dining room). And the staff are some of the friendliest and most efficient I've come across in quite a while. But there, I'm afraid, is where it...

Beautiful regal hotel.so near the train station. Friendly staff. Very clean. Plenty choice at breakfast, all cooked to perfection. Disappointed with room 52.expected a hood view but met with looking like boxed in windows. Like a quadrangle with a roof all in the centre. Room clean but very small.needed rethinking.too cluttered.kettle in a dangerous place. Down on old knees to it!!...

We stayed here for one night on a deal. We had evening meal and breakfast included. The room we had was like going back in time, the wardrobe was patched up and made a noise every time we walked round the room. The bath was disgusting, we never used it!! Our evening meal a carvery was stone cold and the...

This was our second visit to the Palace hotel. The entrance is wonderfully grand , with large chandelier and sweeping staircase. However......... upon checking in we were given a room on the second floor, off we went with our bags. The room was located in one of the back wings of the hotel, we actually had to go through the...
