This hotel / restaurant is very nice and well maintained. You can stay it the rooms that used to be the monks. The food was good and the drinks OK. The views from outside down the valley are spectacular. Enjoyed the evening

Had a very special evening enjoying a good dinner at this extraordinary building which is now a Hotel but still retains much of its original Romanesque and medieval architecture. The views from here are amazing as it is so high up. The original monks cell doors are now number for guests and one can room around seeing so many different...

We visited as part of a large group for dinner. The convent has been beautifully restored and furnished and the views are lovely. However, despite the copious wine, the meal was rather mundane and uninspired!

We only visited this Hotel (as part of a tour) for dinner but the views were amazing and the building intriguing. The whole site and the hotel seems to have been restored to a very high standard. It seems that this location might also be hired for a wedding.

I stayed here two nights for a wedding and I have mixed feeling about the experience. The good part: located approx. at one hour drive from Porto, the landscape and view of the hills and river are great. The building and grounds are old, but relatively well maintained in the common areas, of which there are plenty. Lots of inside...

We didn't stay in the hotel but came for dinner with a group of friends. The building is gorgeous and I imagine it is a great place to stay. The views from the terraces and all rooms are stunning. Our meal was delicious but not adventurous. We had a very pleasant evening.

We had dinner in the old hotel, formerly a monastery. Drinks on the terrace outside before wandering through the sumptuously decorated rooms to the dining room. Hand painted blue tiles adorn many walls and chestnut ceilings complete the grandeur. Great iron chandeliers provide the light. The service was excellent and the food simple and tasty. Wine good value. Bedrooms are converted...

We were met and welcomed by the Manager of this beautiful former convent now turned into a unique luxurious hotel sited high on a hill overlooking the Douro river far below. Views from the ancient balcony were spectacular. We were shown through the various rooms all with 18th or 19th century decors down corridors past the cell type doors of...

Alas only here for drinks & lunch but really impressed. Beautiful location with views of river. Fantastic decor, oldy worldly + exquisite pieces positioned throughout the hotel. We enjoyed a tasty 3 course lunch & the wine flowed. All served by guys dressed up as monks which was a bit odd, guess they are trying to create the old monastery...
