Great atmosphere the bar staff were very professional. Simon the manager was very organised and our meal was perfect. Will be recommending this pub widely. Brilliant desert and the wine was spectacular. Brilliant place for a nice meal with the family.

We stayed 1 night after Carfest. Would definitely go back if I was in the area again. The breakfast was fantastic value - and lovely and the hotel very helpful in helping us with a taxi. One slightly scary member of staff who's a bit forthright but generally a great place for a stopover

The refit looks great .... but what are you doing Red Comb Inns? Perfectly friendly young kids there working, looking smart in uniform and smiling a lot, but they need some help and guidance and perhaps you do to ! It was pretty empty for a Friday evening so they had time on their hands ... standing around chatting to...

It's the first time I had visited the carnarvon arms and had a lovely day out here, the lunch service was fab with an excellent menu to choose from and on arrival the food was delicious. Will definitely be returning for some more family days out.

Came in for lunch as we've admired the place for so long. The food was delicious (as we've been told by friends!) and the service was efficient and friendly. I wasn't sure what to order at first but the staff were very helpful and informative as to what was good, especially with a fussy eater like me! Overall great lunch...

The good first: nicely redecorated, good touches, smart and clean. The bad: disinterested staff, no one really taking charge front of house, a group of young staff who are doing there own thing (the foreign staff were most helpful!). This felt like an upmarket travel inn. Food OK/average. BLT sandwich had no bacon, poached eggs were soaking wet (and so...

Upon arrival we weren't shown to a table so we waited at the bar for over ten minutes where the bar staff were unenthusiastic and rude. Having found our own table, we weren't offered any water, there was no cutlery on the table and we were totally ignored by all staff. A drink was knocked over by one of the...

Lovely building, Excellent food (the house burger was seriously good), our waitress Kirsty (from newcastle) made the whole experience delightful and went above and beyond to look after our fussy mother! We will definitely be coming back.

Popped in after a visit to Highclere Castle for lunch. Excellent menu and I chose the kedgeree fishcake. However, there was so little haddock in the fishcake that it turned out to be a very expensive flavoured ricecake. My complaint was met with the response that this was how they are supplied. Avoid.

Stayed at the Carnarvon Arms 8/31 and 9/1. Cannot say enough good things about it-the staff was very friendly and helpful. The general manager, Simon, even gave us complementary drinks and drove us to Highclere Castle himself, as we did not have a car! Offered to pick us up as well. Ate all daily meals here and did not have...
