Quaint, warm, inviting and incredibly clean this gem of a pub, restaurant and lodging is straight out of Dickens. The delightful staff takes care of your every request and the comfort of the inn is unbelievabley enjoyable. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful English countryside, we cannot wait for our next enjoyable visit.

We decided to go here tonight as it is near us and we are both working. It's our 41st anniversary so we decided to have the filet steak. We were SO disappointed when our meal arrived. The steak was approx 4" in size. This was served with a handful of frozen chips, a small mushroom, a tomato cut in half...

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Unfortunately on the day you visited we had an emergency relief chef, and he made an error in the portioning of your meal. This was an interim measure and our regular kitchen staff are now back and additional training provided to avoid a repeat. I can only apologise for...

Dropped by for lunch. Fantastic steak and ale pie. Probably the best I've had....ever. Sat in the large garden with a beer and soaked up the sun. The menu itself offered a good choice and the staff were pleasant and welcoming. Highly recommended on this experience.

Room was ok, nothing special, shower didn't work, had a cold shower, toilet dripping. Decor was somewhat tired. Food in restaurant was average, staff were helpful. Bar very busy. Had to leave early for work, only offered bread and jam and cereal. Lots of noise from people coming in late. Not a good nights sleep.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are currently carrying out refurbishment throughout our hotel, so I apologise if you felt your room was disappointing. Some of our rooms are some distance from the water supply and so hot water can take a couple of minutes to come through. Did you report this to our...

I have the pleasure of regularly frequenting the Furze Bush. Each time it grows just a little more, evolving and bettering itself. The rooms are clean, comfortable and happy. The kitchen serves great pub food with no frills and the staff are as friendly and as welcoming as anywhere on my travels. My last stay I so enjoyed my sleep...

Regularly call in here for a bar meal. Always a toss up between here and The Craven Arms at Enborne. We both generally have the ham, egg and chips. Sensible portions. Nice good quality ham. I am fussy how my eggs are cooked and these are cooked nice. Sensible portions. Served with chips and a side salad. Had a nice...

What a way to see the year out! Excellent food, excellent ambience, and excellent company; all at affordable prices. Rooms also comfortable. Congratulations! Will look to visit again and sample the menu. Set in idyllic countryside so maybe even combine it with a stroll to walk off the pounds.

The Furze Bush, brings together fabulous accommodation, a village pub, and a restaurant on par with fine dinning - but with great prices. A changing menu is refreshing, offering choice and diversity. The vegetarian meals are exceptional. The genuine warmth and friendliness of the staff is noticeable, as soon as you enter and this continues until you leave. If you're...

I had a wonderful experience at the Furze Bush Inn. The staff were lovely, some of the nicest staff I have encountered in all my travels and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was enjoyable, going as far as getting me replacement charger when my UK adaptor wouldn't work and ensuring I had transport readily available to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Furze Bush Inn lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty just four miles from Newbury Town Centre, with the inns various dining areas , whatever the weather there’s a perfect place to eat either inside in the restaurant or bars or alfresco on the outside restaurant terrace or in the gardens. The menus are a mix of modern international cooking and traditional English pub food featuring authentic far eastern dishes which are a specialty of the inn's head chef. Prices at the Furze Bush Inn are very reasonable and there are no obligatory service charges it’s possible to get a three course meal for well under £20 and difficult to spend more than £30 on food. Their carefully chosen wine list features many well known winemakers but the House Wines are excellent Chilean Reds and Whites which at just £12.95 are superb value for money. For the beer drinker they’ve always a wide choice of draught lagers, stout, ciders and of course well kept real ales. The Furze Bush Inn is open for lunches and dinners every day from noon til 2.30pm and from 6pm until 9.30pm, they serve food all day at weekends and on Bank Holidays. The Bars are open all day every day. If you’ve imbibed slightly more than you intended or just don’t fancy driving home, they may have a room available in their 3 starred hotel with all rooms air conditioned and en-suite. They serve a delicious full English breakfast which is included in the room rate. If you’ve never visited The Furze Bush Inn, i'ts quite easy to find, signposted off the A343 Andover road just outside Newbury. If you're travelling from further afield take the Highclere and Wash Common exit from the A34, turn left towards Newbury and you’ll see the signpost just after the humpback bridge. ... more   less
