We were looking for a pub that had real ale and no one armed bandits. The only one on this street we could find . 2 real ales a real fire and a really warm welcome from the bar staff. Had a nice atmosphere and it advertised folk nights,

We have been here before when visited Scarborough but this time wasn't as full, as it was a very cold Wednesday night. We got our drinks and sat down listening to the young guitar playing singer, and although he was good the songs were very dated and although we are pensioners aged 66, we would have preferred him to sing...

The two of us accompanied by our Patterdale Terrier called into the Merchant one Saturday afternoon. We enjoyed a warm welcome and we must have timed it just right as within 15 minutes there was not a chair to be had. The beer was Merchants Gold and very pleasant it was too. It would have been rude not to have...

This place is great. Totally packed on Saturday night with a great band. It has a huge drinks selection. The staff are lovely. We had rented the accommodation upstairs for the weekend which is also fantastic and well worth a look if you need somewhere to stay

Great little Irish pub. Found it nice and relaxed. The building has real character, and they have a lovely open fireplace. Worth the trip alone for the Vagabond Ale! Absolutely blinding pint! They have live music some nights. Nothing too raucous though. Most nights you can go for a quiet drink with friends, relax and have a conversation! Put you...

Only popped in for a pint while walking through Scarborough. Loved it. Staff very friendly and a lovely pub inside. Also the first pub we've found selling draft Brewdog, which wasn't a brewdog pub. So a pint of 5am Saint was a must! Only there 40mins, but would go back, and would recommend. Irish themed bar, lots of live music...

Walking back from the harbour on a Sunday evening came across The Merchant. It was obviously very popular, especially on a Sunday evening so we went in. We found that it was an Irish bar with two folk singers performing. Most of the patrons were not Irish. Anyway, the sounds and beer was good so we stayed for a couple.

Although we have not stayed in this hotel, we have visited the bar on numerous occasions. It is a good traditional Irish music bar just back from the seafront in Scarborough. Various different bands and musicians play there with guests joining in. The Guinness is excellent and the bar has a vast assortment of different Scotch whiskey and Irish Always...
