My wife and I stayed here in Oct. 2019 on a tour of Scotland. It was our 25th anniversary and when making the reservation 2 months before I added a note to the online system I totally forgot (the note not the anniversary) and when we opened the door there were flowers and a tray of shortbreads and assorted desserts along with a card. Very nice touch that made me look great! Suite was fantastic. Clean and luxurious with his and her TVs. Food was fantastic and grounds are beautiful. Very quiet spot and we will be back.
Just home from our yearly visit to one of our favourite "get aways" We love Craigendarroch so much we bought into the Grand Vacations Club about 5 years ago. Not knowing quite what to expect with the pandemic and the current restrictions we went with open minds, but were pleasantly surprised at how busy the place was,in fact the only difference was that the dining room was closed so we ate in the bar on our arrival. The place was geared up and followed all covid rules etc. The staff are always friendly and professional and Martin especially is always chatty and helpful. The food was tasty, although the menu is limited we always enjoy everything. Our suite as usual was just luxury,No 2,comfortable and so relaxing,we only stay an hour away, but could be on the other side of the world. We love to walk, visit the shops, cafes and pubs in the village....absolute bliss ! Can't wait to return.…
A six night stay just before the English lockdown. A very exhilarating stay at this resort where we were able to do a lot of walking in the nearby countryside. Covid restrictions meant that the restaurant was not open but the hotel catering staff did provide a take-away service which was excellent and one night we were able to eat in the lounge area for their steak night, where the food was again excellent.
We stayed here for a week and had a really relaxing time. Hotel is well set up for Covid with auto hand sanitisers every where. Breakfast is pre-order and collect, which is fine. Restaurant was open for digital orders or you can still talk to the waiting staff. Rooms are very comfortable with a separate sitting area (no door) and an outside balcony. Staff very friendly and helpful Ballater is a lovely wee village and a great base to explore the area including whisky distilleries!
On arrival we were greeted with smiles and a very warm welcome from the reception staff, that was much appreciated after a long drive from Kent. All hotel protocols were duly explained and we were well informed about the facilities which were open and what was closed. Unfortunately pool was closed and was one of the things we were looking forward to use. When we got into our two bedroom suite we were overwhelmed and very happy with the standard and quality in general. The suite was immaculately clean. It was disappointing that the Hotel's restaurant was closed and only a very reduced service was available. I don't understand this when other restaurants are now open for service in a safe manner. Other guests showed similar disappointment with this. This is a missed opportunity! We all felt very safe during these difficult times with staff wearing PPE and sanitation stations provided. Also in the room where sani wipes were offered. The property is well kept internally with room for improvements outside, appreciate we were getting into autumn. As this was for a potential 6 persons the seating(comfortable) is not sufficient around the TV, this should be looked into and possibly a comfy chair after a long day exploring the beautiful countryside. Throughout the stay all staff we interacted with were great so please give them praise from us. All in all we had a great (although short) holiday from our daily stress and I am already looking at dates for our next break away at Craigendarroch Suites. Some nice restaurants locally and nice to experience the history in the area.…
