We are currently staying at the Deeside Hotel, and unfortunately it's been one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in. We booked through booking.com and the pictures of the standard double rooms looked gorgeous, spacious, refurbished bathrooms and cozy. However after a 4 hour trip we arrived to be met by the bar man, who was very friendly and...

My name is Scott and my partner Zoe visited this charming hotel in Ballater. We came for a pub meal in the bar. The barman, Callum, was very polite, friendly and personable. We had two tasty starters, smoked salmon and the venison pate, lovely presentation. We then shared the steak Diane, this was more than enough for two of us...

Just returned from 2 nights at the Deeside Inn where we have previously visited three times - twice in the summer and the other time about this time of year. It has always been a very welcoming establishment and have always had a bit of banter with other guests and this visit was no different. Having checked in we went...

Booked this expecting the worst given the reviews, but it is a very pleasant surprise. The lounge, bar and restaurant are all lovely (and three different, large rooms). Rooms are basic (or mine was, at least) - but who just stays in their room?? It's great. I am actually writing this in an armchair sitting by the fire - what...

Superbly located in the middle of Ballater the Deeside Inn didn't disappoint, we arrived late afternoon and was met at reception by a friendly member of staff who when realised it was my husband's birthday changed our room, officially called large double room this was a suite with separate lounge area and TV, there is also a TV in the...

It was our first visit to the hotel since it was flooded and we were delighted to find that it was as good as ever. There were some new faces amongst the staff but they were all as helpful and friendly as their predecessors. The food was exceptional and there was a good choice of dishes on the menu but...

We stayed here on a great DBB rate which included a three course dinner in the hotel restaurant. Overall the Inn was very warm, friendly, welcoming and the staff couldn't be faulted (they even offered advice on the journey home after a significant snowfall overnight). Our room was basic but very clean and comfortable for a short stay and we...

Although this is a hotel bar, the dark coloured decor and wood fittings lend it a certain cosiness. It could never claim to be a pub, and is really more of a place you would come to for a meal, but is a pleasant enough place for a pint.

Just had a few days in lovely Ballater and stayed at the Deeside Inn. What a superb little gem. Staff are superb, rooms are comfortable, reception rooms/ bar are tastefully decorated in tartan and tweed and the food is to die for. The menu is substantial with a wonderful choice, great quality and incredible portions. Absolutely wonderful. We will definitely...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Deeside Inn is an authentic Highland inn situated in the picturesque village of Ballater in the heart of Royal Deeside - a few miles away from Balmoral Castle, the Queen's summer home. Only an hour's drive from Aberdeen, this part of the Cairngorms is world famous for its stunning scenery and offers some of the best walking, climbing, mountain biking, river fishing and wildlife watching in Scotland. We can arrange a huge range of outdoor activities on behalf of our guests. The inn itself is welcoming and cosy with open log fires, wooden floors, tartan carpets, comfy tweed furnishings and well appointed comfortable bedrooms. In our Ceilidh bar we offer over 40 Scottish single malts and hearty Highland dishes, and also host fantastic traditional music sessions every other Wednesday.
