We stay here during our fishing week in August but up for family reasons on this occasion. One cannot fail to be impressed by the Darroch Learg . Nigel and Fiona as hosts , beautiful rooms and excellent cuisine at breakfast and dinner . A couple of days here completely rejuvenates you ! If you come to stay I’ll guarantee you’ll be back

We had a lovely 2 night stay in the Darroch Learg. A lovely small hotel, excellent rooms with fantastic views and great food. Fiona and Nigel work incredibly hard and deserve their success and the great reviews. We enjoyed our stay so much that we rebooked for a spring break as soon as we got home! Ballater and surrounds offer plenty to do, including lots of local walks. Highly recommended.

Booked a night for our wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. The rooms are beautifully appointed. Our room was No 4 which had a small terrace overlooking Glen Muick. Lovely to sit out on and enjoy a drink. The restaurant is superb and the evening meal delightful. The meal is currently a set menu and very good value for the three courses and the choice of wine excellent. Breakfast in the conservatory is another wonderful dining experience. The porridge was one of the best I have had. Nothing is rushed and relaxing in the beautifully decor of the lounge with a drink is just lovely. If there was one thing and only one thing I would change it would be to reduce the height of the trees so when dining or sitting in the lounge the views across Glen Muick would be breathtaking

My friend and I stayed for a few days in September. The visit can only be described as class from arrival to our departure. Nothing was too much trouble. My friend has food allergies and the menu tailored to ensure she had the same culinary experiences. Fantastic time and would definitely stay again.

Another wonderful stay with Fiona and Nigel. Food and wine as excellent as ever. I was very lucky with the weather and the views from my first floor terrace were amazing. Hope to return with husband next Spring.
