I am interested in hosteling, so I took a tour of this group accommodation while I was at Birdoswald. My tour guide said that this was no longer a hostel, but could be rented by any group for holiday. Large kitchen, beautiful views, and local to the Hadrian's Wall path.

We stayed in this hostel for 1 night because everywhere else was busy. we travelled up for the cultural Olympiad event on hadrians wall, the welcome we received by the volunteers Jan and John was amazing . they were very helpful and knowleagble. This hostel was the perfect stay to celebrate my 40th birthday with family and friends. The photos on the English Heritage website don't do it justice! The kitchen is huge with a fantastic huge Arga that is fantastic for cooking for large groups. The dining area has plenty of chairs and tables to seat everyone at meal times. And the...

I stayed here during a Weekend Classical Civilizations Trip about Roman Britain, The hostel itself is in a refurbished part of the fort, with a visitors centre/ Museum and a gift shop. I stayed here while doing the Hadrian's Wall hike. This "hostel" is an old folly manor house, but only open a few months in summer to the public. It normally houses the archeology team that works at the roman fort. Huge clean modern kitchen. The cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. I got in without reservations, it is close enough...
