I have just spent a wonderful evening in this surprising hotel. I came for dinner and to await a very late train. Every member of staff, in the bar, the reception, and the dining room, were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I stay in lots...

Hotel is exceedingly tired, dirty and generally run down. Staff try their best. Food not bad. Definitely will not be revisiting! We all felt we should have stayed in a cheaper hotel- it certainly could not have been worse!

We stayed at the Hallmark for 1 night. The location was ideal for catching the early train as it's next to Carlisle station. While their staff was very friendly and helpful it's clear the building could use some renovation. The carpets were pretty dirty, the plaster walls and ceiling are cracked throughout, and the bathroom has black mold growing in...

From reading current comments, it sounds as if this hotel has not improved since we stayed there a few years ago. We had a room on the top floor and faced the railway line. The paperwork in the room compendium advised that Queen Victoria had often visited for lunch at the hotel.......would suggest that the top floor had not been...

Staff friendly and helpful let down by management. Hotel dull and depressing, bedroom dark due to frosted windows then we realised they needed cleaning, never enough staff on in the mornings, and dinner in evening was very poor, would not recommend.

This hotel badly needs a general manager and a dedicated full time chef. The meals were bizzare ranging from good to abysmal . We stayed a week Out of a party of 35, 19 went out for a meal to avoid the poor menu. Beefburger and chips is not what I expect as the main course in a 4 star...

After a quick and efficient check in followed by a delicious late lunch my husband and I were more than happy. We spent the afternoon mooching about the fabulous city of Carlisle, full of great historic sites and full of both quirky and big brand shops. Later we enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar and a excellent 3...

Hot, noisy, run down, dreadful hotel. Parking abysmal with receptionist advising we would be cheaper parking in the Railway Station, turns out we weren't and that was with a valid blue badge. Had stayed there previously and it was better, but seemed as if nothing had been spent on the hotel (including cleaning products) since then. Internet access did not...

My friend and I stayed at the Hallmark overnight as we were going to see a show at the Sands Centre. We decided on arrival to have a light lunch, and decided to try a scone. When the scones arrived we were very impressed with the presentation. The scone came with jam and cream and the plate was decorated with...

Hotel staff were ok. Hotel itself was ok. Bathroom would have benefitted from some mould and mildew remover. Considering the hotel was next to the railway station the noise levels were not too bad. The breakfast was appalling - no menus, cooked food was cold, sausages were from the 80's, rough and tasteless, rapidly ran out of bread and pastries...

We truly regret your stay was not as it should have been. Our breakfast usually receives great feedback and I assure you that the issues you have pointed out are not considered acceptable. Thank you for your feedback.
