Let me just say I'm not a fussy person very easy to please and can put up with most things I feel this is a very honest review and its not critical it's just honest feedback especially with what we have just gone through with the pandemic. OK let's start with the good things we stayed in room 101 nice big room the furnishing however are very shabby the tea and coffee not so good the tea bags are not wrapped just loose along with the coffee sachets the sheets bedding very clean . All in all the room is very basic as is the bathroom dirty shower curtain very off putting and no plastic beaker to put your tooth brush half a toilet roll left on the holder from previous guests . The staff are lovely and very helpful the breakfast room was one of the worst I have experienced very poor I would say the chef however was wonderful and very attentive my friend had vegetarian and he went out of his way to make sure she had everything she needed I had the small breakfast started with cornflakes very cheap not nice at all I couldn't eat my breakfast the the produce was cheap and nasty I did have some toast. I think this hotel has such potential but is let down by such silly things the bread for your toast is left in the bags so all and sundry put their hands in to make toast no tongues. Get your toast made before your breakfast arrives or it will get cold. We was woken very early by a man effing and Jeffing below our room had to be staff as it was in the big room below us. All in all the hotel and room seemed rundown and being run on a budget the bar area is very quirky the young girl behind the bar was lovely as was the receptionist and the chef.

We stayed hear for 4 nights over the bank holiday, the staff were warm and friendly they were all great with our dogs who were treated like guests ,we found it to be very clean the rooms have been revamped from when it was the crown and our room was really lovely with some old grand furniture. The bath room again was clean and tidy and we were pleasantly supprised to have a bath. The bar has been really nicely done out fair prices and a good selection of beers we had fish and chips that was fresh and tasty. The beach is really close and is so beautiful up that end it’s really quite really pretty and the dogs are alowed,Something to be aware of tho is that some reviews make it sound like there is a bus to town there isn’t it’s about a 20 min walk and getting a cab at busy times is a pig ( Altho it is only about £5) the bar has live music on Fridays and saterday a and that can make some areas of the hotel quite loud untill about midnight / 1am but we didn’t find this to much of an issue. We only ate breakfast in the hotel once and found it very loud and a bit disorganised but the food was ok. All in all we wouldn’t hesitate to book it again and I deff think that it has the potential to be one of the better hotels in skeg.

Stayed just for 1 night as this was the only hotel that would allow our dog 🐕
Checked in at 3 pm, girl behind reception very friendly and asked if we wanted to upgrade for a themed room for free. Of course we said yes.
The room was 205 and it was Alice's room, must admit it all seemed a bit freaky, our dog was definitely spooked by all the mirrors around.
On the whole it was clean and comfortable, bed linen smelt lovely
Nice big fluffy towels, coffee and tea facilities, biscuits.
Definitely need a small chair in the room and a toothbrush holder in the bathroom.
Husband had a steak to eat later. I just had a roll as not very hungry.
All was OK.
We did not sleep to well as everytime we moved the 4 poster bed creaked and there were a few more "odd" noises,
That made our dog jump out of his bed alot.
Also the mattress was very soft
Ample free car parking
On the whole it was OK
We didn't meet the owners but someone told us that the hotel will soon be featured on Four in a Bed, so will be interesting

On arrival at the hotel I settled the remainder of my bill and the lady didn’t seem welcoming at all didn’t tell me anything about checking out just wanted the money, hatters used to do evening meals if I didn’t ask wouldn’t of known they only do breakfast now.
We had a room on second floor up which was very dirty, blown out window, rubbish on the floor, carpets very dirty, the bath had hair in so had to clean before we could use, water is scalding hot and no warning signs to say how hot it actually is, mugs that haven’t been washed from previous people so unable to use coffee and tea facilities.
In the bar felt very out of place, landlady or owner too busy dancing with regulars than wanting to greet paying guests and a lot of swearing.
Our room wasn’t cleaned whilst being here all they did was give an extra toilet roll and take bin from main bedroom bin bathroom bin not emptied at all throughout 2 night stayed, very unhappy overall shame as it was recommended to us by family that stayed last year.
Slept ok in the beds, on second night guests kept us awake till gone 3am banging and being very loud overall would not stay here again and value of money we didn’t get to be honest, I’m sure it’s friends/ family leaving the rest of the reviews as hardly many guest here and it’s a honest review and reflection, not worth what we paid at all very disappointing.

- staff not welcoming at all.
- unfinished rooms, wants a lot of work doing.
- needs decent cleaners.

Dear chelseat713, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. I want to sincerely apologize for the negative experience you had during your visit. We take all feedback seriously, and we are disappointed to learn that we fell short of your expectations. I'm sorry to hear that your arrival experience was not as welcoming as it should have been. Your comments about our staff's lack of communication and focusing solely on the payment are concerning, and we will address this issue immediately to ensure it doesn't happen again. I apologize for the lack of maintenance in your room, including the hair in the bath and the absence of warning signs regarding hot water. Regarding the bar experience, I apologize if you felt out of place and if the owner seemed preoccupied. We want all our guests to feel comfortable and attended to. Your feedback about the atmosphere and language used is valuable to us, and we will ensure that the appropriate steps are taken to address these concerns. I apologize for the oversight in not properly cleaning your room during your stay. I stayed for 3 nights with a family member who is nuts about Alice in Wonderland. The hotel is situated some distance from the main resort. Hospitality was sadly lacking. There was no one to greet on arrival and the reception was very dark. When the receptionist appeared after ringing a couple of times, there were no pleasantries..just a request for payment. The lift to our landing was unnerving, being exceptionally slow . The stair and landing carpet was worn, thin and dirty. Not a great first impression. The room was grubby in a few areas e.g. the lamp bases and bathroom, dingy and was too hot with only one small window. It would be unbearable in hot weather. Take care when opening this window as I kept banging my head on the feet of the large figurine on top of the wardrobe . I’m only 5ft 2ins tall. The t.v. Was a good size and there was adequate tea making stuff. The mattress was okay and the bed was made daily. However the pillows were dreadfully thin, cheap and lumpy. Bring your own. The bathroom looked okay but the toilet seat was loose and the shower over the bath was scummy and scaly. We could not use it as the water became scalding very quickly even tough the mixer temperature was adjusted before entering. There was no way to stop water filling the tub at the same time as showering.Totally unsuitable if you have any mobility issues or are a child. Towels were basic but okay. However, they were not changed once during our 3 night stay and we were stuck with damp ones. There is a £10 should you stain them. ( Remember…there’s no one to speak to unless you use an emergency contact number). We did not see a single member of staff during our stay but did fall over a duster left at the top of the stairs. Security wasn’t great. We were supposed to leave the key at the front of the unmanned reception desk when out and about. As the bar is open to the public, we felt that anyone could wander in, take the key and access our room. We had planned to eat in the restaurant advertised, but it was closed on our first evening. Breakfast is available but I couldn’t help noticing chips on the floor in the late afternoon that had been there all day which put me off. It turns out, only bar snacks are available that are, in my opinion, expensive compared to local restaurants.
Avoid this hotel if you don’t like snakes ( there’s one in a vivarium in reception) . If you are a fan of Alice theming, it’s okay but the theme is not consistent. The bar is themed completely differently and the reception decor is quite frankly, weird. Needless to say, not a great experience.

On arrival the staff seemed quite helpful and the hotel certainly had a quirky appeal...that did not last. The room was not cleaned properly, in fact we had to wipe around the toilet as we were not happy that it had been cleaned at all. The decor was old and tired looking, with dead bugs squished on the walls. The aside the actual bed linen felt clean. The most alarming part was the noise. There was a private function on when we went that raved on till 12:30, then after a brief quiet spell, people appeared outside in the enclosed garden area speaking and shouting loudly. It was like an echo chamber, and to say you could hear constant foul language was an understatement. DO NOT STAY HERE if you want a quiet peaceful stay, you won't get it. We left without having breakfast which is NOT INCLUDED, and went elsewhere. If you want to believe the good reviews then crack on. We won't be staying or recommending this again.

As the hotel manager, I would respond to the review as follows: "Dear Walkl000, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate your comments and apologize for any inconvenience caused during your stay. We would like to clarify that our property is not only a hotel but also a wedding venue. As such, it is indeed mentioned online that there may be events and celebrations taking place during certain periods. We understand that the noise from the private function and subsequent activity in the garden area disrupted your peace, and we apologize for any discomfort caused. Regarding breakfast, we would like to inform you that it is not included in the room rate. Our online listings clearly state this, as we provide a range of menu options catering to individual preferences. We apologize if there was any confusion regarding this matter. We take feedback seriously and are continually working to improve our services. We appreciate your insights and will address the issues you raised with our housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure that the cleanliness and decor of our rooms meet the highest standards. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused during your stay. Should you decide to give us another chance in the future, please feel free to reach out to our management team directly, and we will be more than happy to assist you. Best regards

Black mold in room. Bathroom door doesn’t shut and no lock sticky tv remotes dust on tops joining room doors squeaks extremely loudly shower struggling to hold the temperature and weak pressure fire alarms going off for prolong periods as the showers in other rooms setting them off laundry bags left outside doors for the duration of our stay was a tripping hazard. We ordered 50-60£ of food in the bar we waited over an hour and the food was nasty and burned I have never in my like seen such crap food it was a shock we sent it back and went to Pizza Hut chef was rude on leaving the pub. Beds rock hard.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hatters. The room was clean and comfortable and at a great price.
The owners and staff were really nice and we can see from the upgrades they have made to the hotel that this place will be even nicer as they refurbish more of the hotel.
The refurbished bar area is warm and welcoming and is a great place for a meal and a drink.
The WiFi was really good in our room and the bed and my partner loved the shower (she is really fussy about showers!)
The hotel iks dog friendly and there's a great walk just around the corner which we really loved.
A nice stay at a nice hotel run by nice people. We will stay again

We booked Hatters Hotel for a special birthday as we wanted to stay in the Wonky room it looked amazing. We had read the reviews and one of the reviews said the hotel had double booked a guests room previously so we emailed the hotel at the beginning of October to ask if they could confirm we definitely had that specific room and highlighted the previous double booking we had read about and we had a 5 hour drive to get to them, the hotels owner emailed to confirm we would definately have that room.
On our way we emailed them to tell them we were coming.
When we checked in we were given the key to the room and we put our luggage in then went to have a look around the hotel.
The owners arrived with their case and asked us if we had already checked in and we said yes, they then told us we could not have the room as they needed it due to a crisis at their home but also said they had all their family staying in that area. At first we thought they were joking and I reminded her about us asking them to confirm the room as we had a five hour journey we had been given the room key and had paid for it, the owner insisted we had to move and they had been too busy to let us know but also said they had known of the room change for two days if they had told us we would have canceled she kept saying sorry and gave us 5 room keys and told us to go and choose another out of the 5 rooms and offered us a refund and free breakfast, she did not come with us and we were walking around the hotel looking for the numbers it was really upsetting but we had no choice as to stay there as we had a 5 hour journey and would have caused more stress to try and find a room elsewhere at such short notice. It ruined my birthday plans and we did not feel comfortable after to use the hotel bar and we missed a live band.
We since found out on their page they were throwing a party for a staff member and that was why they had taken our room as they had their own guests and they wanted to stay there, in my mind it was not professional if we had the choice of all the other rooms they could have put their own family and friends there and honoured our booking as that was made a while before.
Can I add the room replacement was lovely, clean and comfortable, we could not fault that and we were given a refund and we declined the breakfast, we had to go elsewhere for the evening as we were upset and did not want to spend the evening in their company as it was their party.

We have just come back from a 4 day stay at this hotel. There were lots of positives

All staff that we met were very welcoming and friendly. The guy behind the bar gave me ice whenever I asked.
The room was very clean as was the rest of the hotel. We had a family suite so our son was in an adjoining room which is good for the privacy of a teenager and would be great if you had younger kids who you wanted to get to sleep. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was large and had a bath and a shower. There was plenty of hot water but the shower could have had more pressure. The towels were large and soft. Toilet paper was of good quality.
The breakfast was tasty. But due to COVID was limited. There was plentiful toast. Only two cereals were on offer and there was no fruit.
I found the wifi to be satisfactory but you had to restart it from time to time.
The hotel is a bit of a walk from the town centre but is in a lovely part of Skegness.
I only had a couple of niggles. The bin in the bathroom did not have a lid which wasn't great when disposing of sanitary products. To start with we couldn't get BBC on the TV. On the third day we did some fiddling and it reappeared. Given the quality of the towels and the bedding I felt the pillows were not of good quality. I don't understand why cutlery and serviettes were placed in plastic bags. Someone put the cutlery in the bag. Someone then handled the bags to put them on tables. We then handled the bag to get the cutlery out. I don't think it would have been any riskier to just put cutlery on the table.
I was pleasantly surprised that the room had tea and coffee making facilities because I had received an email 2 days prior to travel telling me that these wouldn't be available which meant that I bought a kettle and took it and mugs and washing up liquid and my own tea and coffee. I think it was a recent change back to a more normal situation
