Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The North Shore Hotel and Golf Club comes highly recommended for its cleanliness and friendly staff, with numerous guests highlighting the well-kept rooms and comfortable beds. While the hotel's atmosphere is generally appreciated for its welcoming vibe and sea views, there is some critique of the dated decor and occasional noise. Its prime location is a hit among travelers, offering easy access to the beach and attractions.
The rooms, however, receive mixed reviews regarding size and noise, but the cleanliness and views are consistently praised. Amenities like the well-maintained golf course and good food are popular, although opinions on value and room decor vary.

Detailed Reviews
I don't very often do reviews but in this case I felt that I should. Our double room was very spacious and spotlessly clean (including the onsuite) .the staff were very friendly and courteous. Breakfast was excellent (what I would call proper butchers sausage and bacon) we had an evening bar meal which again was quality and very reasonably priced (as were the drinks) we only booked at short notice due to being let down by another property. We had 2 rooms which I did request to be close together this didn't really happen but I appreciated was not possible due to the layout of the hotel (we needed a double and a single) the location is good it's a pleasant 10 minute walk into skegness down the edge of the beach. We found that not being right in the centre of town made it much more peaceful and secluded. Overall a truly great location for a weekend break .

Dear Global14806007419, Thank you so much for the amazing review, you have provided such lovely words that have been shared with the team. I am so glad that you found the room to be spacious and clean and thank you for your understanding of the room layout associated with a periodic building. It's a pleasure to read the kind comment on our food and beverage offering and we really appreciate the feedback. It's often said we're just far enough from the hustle and bustle of a busy seaside resort to provide a relaxing break for all of our guests. Kind Regards, LawrenceH GM

We stay at this hotel every winter. We travel over from Stoke-on-Trent to close our caravan down and instead of staying in a cold van we treat ourselves to a night at The North Shore hotel. This year we stayed for 2 nights in a small double. Room was small but very welcoming and had everything we needed. There was a large bathroom, with a bath. I'm not sure if the central heating wasn't working as there was a radiator but not on and there was an electric in the room. With no central heating the bathroom was cold, hence 4 stars and not 5.
The hotel itself has a lovely atmosphere and reception staff are very friendly. We were suppose to have stayed Tuesday and Wednesday night but we had loads of snow in Stoke-on-Trent so I rang to change the dates to Wednesday night and Thursday night with no issues at all. We were booked into a room up 2 flights of stairs, as I have Mobility issues I asked if there was a lift. They do not have a lift so she changed our room to 129 which meant only a few stairs, much better for me.
The bar was open and looked very nice, but we didn't use it. There is a large free carpark for customers. We had a lovely little break and am sure we'll be back winter 2025

The room was clean with fresh linens available everyday if required, it was made up every day with coffees etc replenished. We had a lovely sea view from our room. We ate there and the food was delicious. We stayed there last year and hopefully will again next year. Excellent value for money, thank you to all the polite and friendly staff.

13 golfers on a two night golf (2 or 3 rounds),
dinner, bed and breakfast package.
£186 per person. Shared accommodation in twin rooms.
The Good Bits:
Challenging golf course in very good condition
Buggies in excellent order @ £25 per round
Most satisfactory 3 course dinner
Excellent buffet breakfast
Bar staff were very personable
The Not So good Bits:
The majority of the twin rooms we were allocated are in serious need of refurbishment. We booked these rooms 10 months in advance. Most rooms allocated had not been included in the refurbishment programme. I was given a makeover room which was still basic but clean. The
shower however was not fit for purpose. None of the 7 booked rooms had a fully functioning shower capable of providing water at a consistent temperature.
No real ale available for our two day stay. It had all been drunk 3 days previously and not replaced. Fortunately we found the local Batemans a short taxi ride away.
A few of the reception/waiting staff are obviously not suited to the hospitality industry.
Golfing organisers please note: A non refundable deposit of £30 per golfer is required at least 6 months in advance. This is not applicable to other hotel bookings. Anyone who drops out, £30 lost deposit. Non negotiable.
Will the 13 of us be returning next year?
A resounding NO.
The negatives far outweigh the positives.

Response from Mathew Flisher, General Manager at North Shore Hotel and Golf Club
Responded 12 Oct 2022
Dear John, Thank you for your review and detailed analysis of your current stay and I am sorry to hear that feel you wont be returning especially as we conversed many times with you before your arrival to accommodate your various changes. We also answered your questions regarding the non refundable deposits, which are stated on the booking details you received and you acknowledged our response to your email query, even stating how fair the reply was. Other hotels may not require a deposit for a general booking but from our homework many hotels, especially golf hotels such as ours, do require a deposit per person for large groups that have booked onto a package deal but I am sorry that you have felt this was inappropriate but as already stated, this was explained to you at the time of booking, hence you had paid the deposit to secure said booking. I appreciate that you booked 10 months in advance and were allocated your rooms to the grade that you had asked for, along with many others during your stay, with the majority in fact having booked 12 months in advance as they were recurring societies who have been coming for many years. We had refurbished 6 out of our 34 and these are allocated as and when booked unless specifically requested by the guest but come February we would have hopefully renovated 17 in less than 12 months, as we do concur the rooms all require some TLC. We also appreciate the with such an old building the water pressure here can still be problematic especially during peak times and even though we replaced the entire hotel boiler system last year, we do continually seek new ways to improve this but do apologise for any inconvenience caused. In regards to your comment about the real ale we apologise that we did in fact sell out of XB the day you arrived with a delivery due 2 days later, however we did still have summit pale ale on which is a real ale. This time of the year it only warrants having 1 real ale on at a time, so we alternate between the 2 but always ensure at least 1 is on at all times and if you know about real ale you know it cant be tapped for 24hrs after delivery. Kind regards MatF GM

We have recently returned from a three night break at the North Shore Hotel over the New Year. This is the third consecutive time that we have stayed at the hotel over the New Year.
The hotel is very good, the staff are pleasant and helpful and the food is plentiful and well cooked. The breakfasts are great and really set you up for the day.
The bedroom we stayed in this year was well decorated, comfortable, warm and spacious with a fantastic view over the golf course. In fact all the public rooms in the hotel are pleasant and warm.
We travelled to the North Shore for the New Year's Eve party. This was great and included a glass of fizz, hot sandwich buffet, disco and Freddie Mercury tribute act. Hotel management had listened to complaints about the behaviour of children last year and no young children were at the hotel this year.
We consider our stay and New Year's Eve party to be very good value and do not recognise the negative reviews which appear on this website.
Thoroughly enjoyed our break with friends at the North Shore Hotel.

We should have stayed at Premier Inn who gave us a much better value for money and very friendly welcome.
What we got at a hotel that advertised such beautiful rooms, was a tiny box room, twin beds, with one bed against a wall, no view as windows were above head height.
Also advertised is you are 0.75 miles from 26 restaurants.....I would like them listed...there is no way you could walk 0.75 miles and find even one, in fact it's miles from city centre
Met at Reception by someone who understandably was busy, but as that's her job, should have been more friendly.
We were also told, (as paying guests) that for the 2 nights we were there, there were other functions going on and if we were eating in the restaurant to expect our service to be delayed.
What a cheek!!!!!
On top of this, trying to sleep was difficult, at 11.30pm music was blaring and could be heard through to our rooms upstairs. Constant banging of beat music, kept us from sleeping.
We won't be coming back here again.

Dear RobynHall, Thank you for your detailed feedback from your recent visit. I am sorry that our bedrooms did not meet your expectations. As most hotels do, we offer a range of different room types to suit all our guests needs. We believe that our pictures and descriptions are a true reflection of the services we offer so again, please accept my apologies if you felt differently. Unfortunately, the hotel itself does not advertise the fact we are '0.75 miles from 26 restaurants', this is information provided by TripAdvisor. With that in mind, we find our location to be better suited to those looking for a quiet night away from the hustle and bustle of a busy sea side town. I am sorry you felt the receptionist to be cheeky, but I believe that her comment was inline with our guests satisfaction and was more so meant to be informative to avoid any long delays in our restaurant. I hope you are able to find accommodation better suited to your needs in the future. Kind Regards, LawrenceH MG

My stay at the North Shore Hotel 🏨 was an ultimate first class experience. A very classy and very decent place, very enjoyable even in the cloudy days of winter. The bar and the lounge are very well equipped and their design is really aesthetically appealing, very sunny even on the cloudy winter days because their windows are really big. They give a wonderful vista to the surrounding golf fields. The hotels rooms are giving back a good interior designs taste. The bathroom is wonderfully pearl white with a curvy like bathtubs and a shell like washbasin. If you want to be treated like a king, and you still have to work for your budget, I highly recommend this wonderful experience. And yes, the staff is also very good, very helpful and first class.

Stayed on the db&b offer with a Seaview room. Room lovely and big, very clean although the bathroom was slightly dated, but it all worked perfectly with a super hot shower. The 3 course evening meal was very nice and would definitely recommend. Unfortunately the breakfast was not good, my husband had full English which according to menu in room was served to you, when we arrived at restaurant it was a self service breakfast which is OK, but hardly any left, very greasey and look most uninviting and my husband who is full english fan said it wasnt at all pleasant. I asked if there was an alternative breakfast which was on the room menu, but when I asked I was told there wasn't really another type of breakfast which I was quite taken aback, I asked if would be possible for a couple of poached eggs as this was the easiest thing I could think of, which was provided, but I do feel I was cheated out of a nicer breakfast. Orange juice cheap and nasty, very poor cereal and fruit selection. Overall nice stay but very poor breakfast.

Dear Ian, Thank you so much for the spectacular review. I'm so glad that we met all expectations from your recent visit. Rest assured we're working hard in the background to complete the rest of our room refurbishment, with additional projects already completed this year to better improve our water pressure and central heating system. We very much appreciate the recommendation and hope you'll keep us in mind for a future stay to see the changes we have planned! Kind Regards, LawrenceH GM

It's literally a minute walk across the carpark to the beach so if you have a room that overlooks the carpark you see the beach, sea and dunes etc
Hi,
Yes the usual course of action is to find out if the rooms are available by contacting us and then we will put you through to the golf course.
I strongly advise calling the golf pro shop asap to get your tee times booked in if you call 01754 763298 option 2 and this is open from 7am to 5pm this time of the year.
Kind regards
