We saw this while walking around the train station. The outside looks better than the photos, the inside is spotless and refurbed. Cheap drinks but brilliant staff, friendly clientele and clean toilets. What more do you want?
This hotel is a lovely place the staff cant help you enough the hotel its self is very clean and rooms are lovely I have had breakfast and tea the whole week and the food is very good. I couldn't recommend this place anymore back next week aswell and I'm looking forward to it thanks for a great stay
Stayed here twice now - lovely little place - above a pub with an earthy clientele but the staff there are as friendly as you could hope to meet - very cheerful and helpful - the rooms are very clean, comfortable and lovely and warm - GREAT value for money - only constructive feedback id give is I wished to'check out' at 9am - nobody in bar area eating brekkie and waited 10 mins but no one to return keys to - rang the phone number to get attention but the phone in the bar next to me just rang! :-) unanswered so gave up and just left the keys on the counter adjoining the bar - hope the proprietors will understand I didn't just 'do a moonlit flit' - will DEFINATELY use this place again - ticks all the boxes for a very reasonable price
Me and a friend stayed here over bank holiday weekend for Radio 1’s Big Weekend. It was well located right next to the train station and close to the centre - making our weekend very easy. Room was clean and well presented, it had everything we needed for the couple of nights. Staff were pleasant and helpful, there was a separate entrance meaning we didn’t have to walk through the pub every time we were coming and going which was good. Would recommend.
We were going to visit York, but room rates were high Since we had an unlimited train ticket, we decided to stay in nearby Darlington, and picked the Dalesman for its proximity to the train station. The rooms are above a pub, where you checkin. It’s a lively, friendly local pub, which got a bit noisy on Saturday. The barman/reception person was friendly and helpful. We were surprised that the hotel only accepts cash, but he took our bags up and directed me to a nearby atm. Our room was nicely refurbished and adequate with everything we needed, and very clean. Nothing special, but really was cheap and cheerful 😊
