Detailed Reviews
We spent 2 weeks here in July/ August 2003. The villa we rented was certainly one of the best quality villas we have stayed in.Beautifully equipped and presented. The first 4 days were very, very windy, the area is known for winds - the parque has a wind farm nearby. When it did drop it was great, the golf course is challenging but interesting. The tennis for kids is fun, but having 2 teenagers with us - they found it a bit quiet .The winds returned and it was almost impossible to sit outside! There are numerous restaurants in the area and i can honestly say every meal we had was execellent. There are some lovely unspoilt beaches along this part of the coast. We shall certainly return.

stayed in a villa (Dreams) here in early october - standards very high - lovely views/pool/facilities - didn't use the golf course but looked of high standard - lovely beaches close by - ate at several excellent restuarants recommended by reception staff who were super - had stayed at quinta de lago the week before and standards etc here were just as good and considerably cheaper - helped that we booked villa direct with owner via web as this was much cheaper than booking via uk agency - all in all to be highly recommended

Have just returned from a lovely holiday in Villa 59 in the main Phase I/II part of the resort, booked through Owners Direct. This a 3 bed property with lower level bedrooms and spacious lounge / dining area with comparatively large pool and views across to the sea. Kitchen is a little small but well equipped. After about 6 visits to PdF we can confirm that, contrary to one reviewers comments, the villas are not at all the same - designs and furnishings vary considerably and some of the older properties have been refurbished.
We understand the original developers are in liquidation but new owners are clearly starting to invest in the golf course and communal areas. The course was in much better condition this year and the main spa pool has a complete set of new loungers/umbrellas.
Charges have been reintroduced for villa occupants who choose to use the communal (10 euros per day) but it remains free to those in the town houses for whom it was built, so it's not so crowded. The Spike Bar has been refurbished and extended to include sofas, pool table etc, and continues to be a popular meeting spot the teenagers to socialise jn the evenings. We had take-away pizzas from the Italian by the main entrance a couple of times and they were excellent.
The western Algarve benefits from a wonderful combination of high temperatures and decent sea breezes, especially in the evenings - admittedly the wind can get a bit much on the resort sometimes, especially if you're in one of the highest, exposed properties - but many have some shelter, especially in the BBQ areas, and you still rarely need more than a light cardigan out and about jn the evenings.
We love this area and, contrary to some reviewers, we always find lots to do - albeit that a car is essential. On the resort itself, attendance at the kids clubs varies, but the tennis courts are always popular and the kids football sessions. There's a bowls club on site, with really welcoming owners, where you can get an excellent English breakfast, coffee, sandwich lunch, or try your hand at the game. They also hold a weekly quiz evening, which is great fun. Kids and adults can try out scuba diving in the main pool with an excellent local coach (Cris) who visits on Wednesdays, and then go on to learn properly in the sea if they wish.
Even without going further than Lagos (20 mins east) and Sagres (20 mins west), you can go blokarting, learn to surf, water ski, hire cycles or take a jeep ride out into the countryside. There are loads of excellent restaurants of various types in the surrounding villages and by the sea, various beaches - either little quiet ones or slightly higher ones with pedaloes and donut rides - boat trips from Lagos and Sagres to fish (mackerel or deep sea), see dolphins, view the grottoes. or go on a sailing boat.
If you're happy to drove a little further good days out include: a trip into the mountains for fantastic views and lunch at the spa town of Monchique; Zoo Marine or one of the water parks with the children; the new Autodrome where children and adults can go carting; the surf beaches up the west coast; or the waterside at one of other coastal towns. All about 45mins / 1 hr away.

Spent a week here in June 2004, The Parque is situated in the Hills and therefore benefits from a beautiful sea breeze which is needed to cool you down. The SPA is excellent, golf Course, restaurants and bars likewise. The Staff are courtious and very friendly and made us very welcome. Facilities were second to none and we will be going back.

We spent a week on this resort in a private Villa by James Villa's. We saved over £800 each by booking the week before.
The Villa's are at different elevations so you have privacy. We had a 4 bedroom 4 bathroom Villa, Massive for two people but it was absolutely stunning.
There are three bedrooms on the ground floor with each one having a bathroom. The master bedroom had a double bed, Plenty of storage and the bathroom contained a sink,Bath,Shower,Bidet and toilet. The other two bedrooms contained two single beds in each, Plenty of storage and the bathrooms contained a sink,Shower and toilet each. Each of these bedrooms have patio doors out to the private pool.
On the first floor you have the forth bedroom which has two single beds and a bathroom containing a sink, Rain shower and toilet. This bedroom has patio doors out to the balcony which over looks the pool area. Also on the first floor you have a kitchen which has everything you need inc a fridge, Freezer,Double sink, Oven, 4 hobs,Microwave, Dish washer and washing machine. Then there is the utility room with a toilet,Sink and tumble dryer.
The rest of the first floor is the living room and dining room all in one. There is enough room for 8 people to sit at the dining table. There is also a patio door that goes out to another balcony that has a table and bench (Fab for watching the sunset) The living room is very spacious with a big window overlooking The Algarve hills and ocean. There are two sofas, Two coffee tables, Widescreen T.V. and a fireplace.
The outside has a big drive that could fir about 5 cars, a big heated private swimming pool (We didn't pay the extra for it to be turned on but it was very warm anyway) with 8 sun loungers, a built in BBQ with sink by the pool and a pool shower.Around the Villa grounds are trees, Flowers, Bushes and another table and bench.
I would recommend this Villa to anyone that wants to get away for some peace in a gorgeous surrounding. I can't help with any other part of the resort as we just used the Villa but if anyone has any questions just send me a message

We were fortunate to spend two weeks with our children in August 2005 and we all had a fantastic time. Breakfast was first class and more often than not we sat on the terrace overlooking the manicured golf course. Everything was so, so clean and when you are travelling with young children this is paramount. The maid service was the best we have experienced - our villa was so clean and the bed linen and towels were changed each day. You are provided with bathing towels for the beds at the poolside and there is an abundance of sun beds so you dont have to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve one! There is a fierce wind which we have never experienced in Portugal before. A car is essential and we clocked up many miles touring up and down the new road (A22). Restaurants were all first class and really catered for families. We will return in April to this fantastic resort.

Spent family holiday here in June 05. Good accomodation to high standards, good choice of restaurants , sporting facilities, kids pools and playground, Excellent location from which to explore in my opinion the most beautiful area of the algarve which as yet is relatively unspoilt by development. Not suitable location for late night revellers.Car hire is essential.Would highly recommend for family holiday

We can thoroughly recommend Parque da Floresta for a relaxing holiday. The villas are out of this world, as is the resort. There is no need to leave the resort as everything that you could possibly want is there on site--even an Italian take away! However it would be a shame not to see some other parts of the Algarve whilst you are there. Going in October was a dream--the weather was fantastic and the beaches empty. The Portugese people go out of their way to help you and they are very friendly. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Recently spent 2 weeks there and will definitely go back. We have a 2yr old and the pool for kids is worth the trip, parents can safely sit back and let the little ones plod around at leisure as you are only ever 5 seconds away from them in the 2 1/2 ft at deepest pool. The beach style pool even enables the youngest babies to dip their toes although the adults pool (slighly heated to take the edge off) is one of the best I've seen too. Soft floored kiddie play area, with swings and frames etc, is a plus also and is gated so again parents can relax a bit (not sure that dark green was best colour for it though as it does get quite hot)!
The resort is out of the way being as far west as you can go on the Algarve really, this suited us though as it's not as touristy and tacky as some over developed areas. Short drive to Salema provides some off site relief with a lovely kid friendly restaurant perched overlooking the sea (Atlantico Restaurant, Salema Beach). We also found some small coves/bays just a 5 minute drive from the resort that were beautiful and not crowded at all.
Parque da Floresta itself is great, lovely gardens and kept immaculately clean, staff more than helpful, Jimmy who runs the Spike Bar and restaurant was great and all the staff are so kid friendly. 3 restaurants and breakfast buffet is all a very good standard & the golf course is stunning and very well tended (if a tad expensive without discounted rates). You have to play it for the 5th hole (short Par3) alone.
All in all a great stay that even the 5 days of rain (worst run for 15yrs!) couldn't really tarnish.
Reccomended.

Recently returned from a two week stay at villa 135. The villa is situated within the phase 3 development at the top of the hill. The villa was large and comfortable for our party of 8, with ample room to feel unrestricted. The villa was booked through James Villas and although we have stayed at a number of James Villas rentals around Europe, this one was a little under par to what we have previously experienced.
The villa was clean and tidy, but was needing some tender love and care in a number of areas with the like of the main patio door that would lock properly and paint falling off in places. The villa is also advertised as having Sky satellite tv, if call half a dozen channels Sky tv then yes it has Sky tv..
The pool is very large and with the extra option of pool heating, it was great and we all enjoyed many hour swimming and splashing about. The pool like the villa could also do you a little loving, although clean a number of tiles were missing and pool lights didn't work which was a shame especially on an evening whilst sitting out.
During our stay we had a issue with the pool heating/pumping system and the response received when this was report was first class, with someone on site within an hour to sort it out.
On the resort you are pretty limited with a small club house bar (spikes) and restaurant and a little Italian at the entrance to the resort. The location of the villa makes it a bit of a challenge for the less abled due to the hills and banks needed to negotiate to reach the facilities on site.
We did visit the driving range on a few occasions which was fine and the club house reception are more than happy to loan you some clubs to hit a few balls.
Around the area and within a short drive you will find a great little indian restaurant (the curry house) which we visited a number of time for take away and there is also a super market that is well equipped with all that you need.
The villa/resort is within a good location to explore the surrounds resorts and areas.
Over all we all had a very enjoyable stay in Burdens and villa 135.

Peak District National Park, United Kingdom5 contributions2 helpful votesWhat price is a taxi to salema just debating wether we need a car hire or is it a long walkout salema? Thanks Kathleen
I don't know how much it is but it is not a easy walk. I would recommend a hire car as even over to the clubhouse, supermarket and reception is a good walk in the heat.
Hi, i live on the resort, and there are no shops here. It is a twenty minute walk to tge nearest village, Budens, where you will find Intermarche, a large supermarket.
There are quite a few taxis that you can call, and a bus sevice near budens which will take you into Lagos. They are really good, but you might find it easier to rent a car, the resort is a little isolated.
I hope this does not put you off in any way, as it is wonderful here.
Hi, i think if you are staying here it is free. Pop into reception and they will give you a armband, Not too sure about how many pools, there are two large ones near the spa, one for children.
