Rooms are ok and nothing more than they need to be. I found the reception staff very rude and short. The food is atrocious. Even on a low budget they should be able to produce better than that. My partner paid almost 200kr for a spaghetti that they boiled in advance and reheated in a microwave - shameful. Not what...

A sad budget living storage place for people on a budget or visiting hospital patients, or like the receptionist said: "cancer patients and first time dads mostly". Overpriced lobby food/snack. Ignorant receptionist. Sad and unprofessional staff.Hopeless parking rules.

I stayed two nights here. The room was a hospital room, and still had the emergency call cords installed in the bathroom. Nonetheless, it was clean and cheap by Norway's standards. It's a little off the beaten track, and if you don't want to take the bus, you can still get to the harbor or the train station after a...

We spent a couple nights in this hostel which is located and attached to the hospital in Stavanger. The staff was very good at reception. Our room had 2 beds that were comfortable. We couldn't get the window to the room to close completely, but that didn't bother us as it wasn't cold. Towels were provided. Bathroom had a shower...

3 of us stayed in a room, there was a bunk bed and a single bed. The room was cosy! Perfect for a one night stay. Was initially slightly concerned about it being part of a hospital but it didn't matter so much! Supermart is situated at the lobby/reception, making things very convenient! The hostel is located about 6 bus-stops...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The St. Svithun Hostel in Stavanger is a modern hostel with a central location in relation to attractions in and around Stavanger. All our rooms have shower/WC, TV and free wireless Internet access. Breakfast, bed linens and towels are included in the price, and we also offer laundry services. We can accommodate all kinds of groups and have amenties for business meetings and conferences. There is a common kitchen avaliable for our visitors, together with the common room where guests can socialize and find information on Stavanger and surroundings. St. Svithun is directly connected to Stavanger University Hospital and also functions as a patient hotel for the hospital. Medical helicopter landings might occur from time to time, but rarely during the night. We have our own cafe, Cafe Morgenrød, which serves breakfast, hot and cold dishes every day all year round. In the summer season, Cafe Morgenrød has a popular outside terrace, Solsiden, where you can order food and drinks. Our shop, LYST, is centrally located in the lobby and is open 24 hours a day. Here you can buy fresh fruit drinks, sandwiches, hot meals and salads from the salad bar. We also sell small gifts, cosmetics, books, magazines and flowers. Everything can either be taken with you or consumed on the premises. The center of Stavanger has a bustling street life and the St. Svithun Hostel is close to most things. It is approximately 15-20 minutes walking distance from the town center, where you can stroll along the cobblestone pedestrian streets and enjoy the shopping and nightlife. You might want to drop into one of the many cosy downtown cafes, or pay a visit to the historical quarter, Gamle Stavanger. The closest bus stop is only 150 meters away from the hostel, and buses run to and from the center of Stavanger four to eight times an hour (no. 4 and no. 11). There are good parking facilities in our own paid car park. Nature is never far away here in Stavanger. It's always nice to take a trip to Lysefjorden, Preikestolen or Kjerag. There are many good walks in our immediate vicinity, and we recommend walking round the Mosvannet Lake, Rosenli or in the Valand gardens. Stavanger is a perfect base with easy access to both fjords and mountains. ... more   less
