Charming historic hotel, the ultimate location The hotel really part of the history of Bergen and Norway An old historic building that has become a charming hotel. Comfortable, warm, cozy, and charming. Staff were kind and outstanding Excellent service, delicious and rich breakfast. Excellent location, within walking distance from what Bergen can offer. Highly recommended

Only got to stay here one night while in Bergen but really enjoyed everything about this hotel. The location is perfect, close to walking to all sights in the downtown and historic area and about a 15 minute walk from the port and train station. The room was large with a very comfortable bed and a lovely comfy sitting area...

We stayed in one of the suites for three nights. The hotel could not be in a better location. Within walking distance of everything Bergen has to offer - which is a lot! The fish marker is right across the street, the train station a ten minute walk, the funicular a five minute walk, all the boat trips leave from...

This hotel was the second in 2 weeks Norway. It turned out to be quite an unexpected surprise. We had had dinner at FG before but not attended a room in the hotel. What a miss! We got spontaneously the cheapest room (NOK 1090.-) which turned out to be quite the cosy room with all sorts of neat angles and...

This rating was 4 stars until I heard a guy vomiting outside / below my window. Seriously. And it was only 745pm. The hotel rates 5 stars for me inside the walls. The room itself (Deluxe Room) is very nice, with a claw foot tub, a sofa, and very new and clean condition. The location is unsurpassed as it's at...

We only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed longer. Yes, the room we had was very small (although the bathroom was quite large), and yes it was in the "attic" on the 4th floor, but we loved it. So quaint! Everything was well kept in the room - no "historic" shabbiness - very nice decor. The heat...

Located in a building that must be 300 years old, the hotel is adjacent to the old port waterfront of Bergen. The hotel's entrance is not very visible but it adjoins the Hanseatic Museum and that is quite prominent. The floor of our listed to port, just like the decks of the ships that plied the ports of the Hanseatic League....

The hotel is an historic site and it was renovated using strict guidelines. Rooms are rustic looking and are scattered to accommodate the guidelines. Our room, although small, was more than adequate and refreshingly simple but tastefully decorated. The bathroom was large with the shower and sink separate from the toilet. Lots of amenities in the bathroom. We didn't have...

Bergen is a great place and worth a visit in Norway. Large rooms. Breakfast was amazing and the staff were so helpful, only disappointment was the unexpected fire drill at 3am with no explanation. Extremely comfortable beds, but quite noisy at night-ear plugs provided.

Thank Connie B

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A stay at the Hanseatic Hotel is a very special experience. We have invested all our expertise and passion into creating this high quality hotel, situated at Bryggen in Bergen. With its location at the very heart of historic Bergen, the hotel is ideally placed, whether you are travelling on business or pleasure. The Hanseatic Hotel is not your 'standard' hotel. The hotel has been built on historic ground within the Finnegaarden Trading House at Bryggen, which is inscribed on Unesco's list of World Heritage Sites. We have retained the wharf style and architecture, and the old timber walls have been preserved in several places.Every room is uniqe! We can offer 37 characterful double rooms featuring exclusive furniture and unique bathrooms, creating an interior that is redolent of the time when Bryggen was a Hanseatic port. The Hanseatic Hotel will appeal to those looking for more than a standard A4 hotel, and who wish to spoil themselves in attractive and charming surroundings. As the city's most outstanding hotel and restaurant complex, we want our guests' stay to be memorable and can offer delicious culinary treats that will appeal to every taste. We have several restaurants serving exquisite traditional and international cuisine, a cosy lobby bar, in addition to excellent conference facilities and free WiFi.Our hotel and restaurants, as well as our conference facilities, with their unique character and central location, make for an out-of-the-ordinary experience. We can organise every type of privatefunction, from weddings to confirmations and Christmas buffets. A short distance from the hotel is the famous Fish Market (Fisketorget), where seafood connoisseurs mingle. Another popular tourist attraction is the Fløibanen Funicular. The airport bus and the railway station are just a short distance away.Welcome to a memorable hotel and culinary experience! ... more   less
