Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice hotel right in the center of Vadsø. Very nice service and very good customer service. Clean and nicely in the room and good beds. Breakfast was very welcoming and great arranged. Here other hotels have a little to learn! Plus some good eggs and good coffee. Very good service from the breakfast hosts who cleaned away used service and served smoking hot coffee at the table. It is a pity this hotel is so far away, because here we would like to come back several times. If we ever visit Vadsø again we will be happy to come back :)

The hotel has a nice location, nice staff and a good breakfast, but terribly poor cleaning of the rooms. We stayed there for 6 days, and the cleaner only stopped by and changed the towels. Soap dispensers were not refilled despite us reporting this.

We stayed at the Scandic for 4 nights in March 2022. A large hotel, but we were a little early in the season so there were not many guests staying. We discovered on arrival that the restaurant was not open in the evenings (no mention of this on Booking.com), which left us a bit stuck, but we were directed to the Molla bar opposite which was superb.
Our room was warm and spacious (the bathroom fan never turned off which disturbed a bit during the night). The bath was very welcome after a long day out in the snowy landscape.
Breakfast was superb with lots of choice.
The staff were friendly and special mention to the guy on reception overnight, who was very helpful.
On our last night we went over the road as usual for a meal, only to find that it, along with every other eatery, closed on Mondays, so we were left without anywhere to eat. None of the hotel staff had mentioned this during our visit, which was really bad - the hotel surely had a duty of care to ensure we could eat somewhere if their own (advertised) restaurant was unavailable. We had to go to the supermarket and have a carpet picnic. The night manager kindly heated up some soup we had bought in the hotel kitchen - It was -11 deg C outside. Not the last night in Vadso that we had planned.

The hotel rooms were clean and functional, the staff at the reception and in the breakfast room were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of choices and good quality of the food. Parking is sufficiently available at the hotel, at no charge.

- Bathroom Issues: The bathrooms in our rooms were poorly designed. Using the shower flooded the floors as there were no drains, and we had to use towels to soak up the water.
- Rude Staff: The receptionist on our departure morning was rude and unfriendly. After paying a fairly high price for one night, we expected at least basic courtesy. Additionally, the voucher we received upon arrival was only valid for full-priced items in the fridge and not for the snacks next to it. We were not informed about these restrictions beforehand. In addition, we did not face such restrictions at another Scandic hotel a few days earlier. However, none of this would matter at all, had the receptionist been friendly.
- Teen Room Issue: We were denied a teen room because it supposedly requires two adjacent rooms with a connecting door. We have stayed at numerous Scandic hotels over the years, and a teen room has always been possible without needing two adjacent rooms with a connecting door.

Overall, the stay did not meet our expectations based on previous experiences with Scandic hotels.

The bare rooms and the bathroom are extremely small. Tried turning on the heat in the bathroom, it didn't get any warmer there. Cold air blew under the window. No information that they do not serve dinner here. You have to find food elsewhere. Breakfast: gluten-free briquettes were dry and old. The excuse was that they had not received goods the day before. This hotel is not worth anyone. The price for accommodation is unrealistically high, this is a scam.

Super nice hotel! The staff was great and we were able to upgrade to a suite through Scandic Friends and Family. We bought food from the store and we ate in the restaurant area where we were able to use the cutlery and microwave and eat comfortably. We had a wonderful nice time! The reception also had snacks and glog :)

Cold in the room on arrival. The hotel room looked good, but very disappointing that you have to shower in cold water in the morning. The breakfast was good. But the stay is unfortunately not in line with the price you have to pay, which is in the upper price range of what you can get in another big city, for example.

This is a very expensive hotel. And the first room we got was the size of a badger den. It is completely out of the question to demand 1700NOK for a room that is barely bigger than the bed. We switched to something that was marginally larger. The hotel is therefore not recommended if it can not be avoided. We have stayed in hotels in many countries and this is by far the smallest room in relation to the price we have ever experienced. The question is just: why?

One good example that the "Scandic friends" loyalty program still works. We got upgraded the room, which is not common in Scandic hotels the last years (for instance Sandefjord, Kirkenes), so a nice surprise in this hotel. Value for money when low prices; they differ (too much) depending on demand.
