The hotel was a bit challenging to find the first time (didn\t notice any large hotel sign). We walked right past on the other side of the street where you would think to notice a quality hotel. But after my shameful navigating skills recovered, I soon learned it's in an ideal location, near to the u-bahn (sits just behind the...

At the end of January 2009, my wife and I embarked on a European tour, where we visited London, Athens, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Paris, Amsterdam, Oslo, and then we popped back to London. We chose all of our hotels based on reviews that we read on this website, so it is our duty to come online and at least write...

Once you locate the somewhat tricky address, you're home free. What a comfortable, efficient, beautifully designed hotel. The rooms face an inner courtyard giving both charm and quiet in the middle of the city. The high ceilings, double-glazed windows and comfortable furnishings make this feel like a retreat. We loved the location, 50 meters from the subway, and a short...

We stayed fours day on business. The hotel location and service is great. However, the bed is the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE I HAVE EVER SLEPT ON. Our entire group complained about the beds. The staff is very friendly.

Great modern hotel, i booked a superior room which i was more than happy with. 5 minutes walk from most attractions. Excellent food and breakfast, dinner was a touch expensive but hey. On a downside the pillows were horrible, it was like sinking into balls of cotton wool.

My husband and I decided to have a romantic adventure, travelling by train to Vienna and I booked this hotel as I got a good deal through airmiles. The overnight train journey was a bit of a disaster and we arrived at the hotel at about 9am, hours before normal check-in, but they took one look at us (exhausted and...

Levante Parliament is a superb hotel. Can't say a bad thing about it, literally. I was suspicious when we were given a room on the ground floor just round the corner from reception but we never heard a sound! Design of the place is top class as is the location, and the staff were professional and helpful. Breakfast very good...

Modern design within an inch of itself--lovely hotel with great service and super breakfast. Room was good size, great shower. Staff was very helpful and hip. Great high end design and attention to detail. About a 10 minute walk to Cafe Central.

We got back yesterday from a 4 night stay in this great hotel. We booked through lastminute.com and got a great price for 4 nights inc breakfast. The hotel is in a really good location - especially if you are going to Vienna for the Christmas markets as its very close to the main Rathaus market. Its also very close...

Knowing European Hotels very well and traveling most of the year for work I can safely say this hotel is great . But if you are expecting large rooms then you will be disappointed but that is not the norm in Europe, but it is well designed and the very friendly staff made it a great stay. Good value and...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
