Hotel das Tyrol is located in the Museumsquartier of Vienna, and is in the middle of a row of shops. It is small but has all the facilities of a large hotel. The staff are very friendly and fall over themselves to help you. The rooms are on the small side but the bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom...

We enjoyed our 4 night stay at this hotel, and would not hesitate to stay here again. The location is excellent, and service from the reception desk staff was exceptional, especially Bettina and Lajos. Their restaurant suggestions were on the mark, and they even made reservations for us. They remembered us by name/room no. and we have never had that...

We were very impressed with our room, as someone else mentioned in their review...the whole hotel has a lovely smell....it's kind of like you are walking into a spa. And they do have a sauna room which we didn't get a chance to try but wish we had! The bed/pillows/duvet was so comfortable - I wish i could have brought...

The hotel is a little harder to find (because next door Starbucks sign is much brighter and bigger than the hotel), once you step into the hotel, wow, what a nice decor! (At least it is to my liking). The gentleman at the reception was so helpful, he was all by himself at night when we arrived, he helped me...

Hotel is small and private with very good service. Everywhere in the hotel you can find artpieces which make it very special. Room has all what needed: tea/coffee making facilities; TV with english news channels; safe; slippers and bathrobe; very comfortable beds; enough room for two incl luggages. Many shops on the same street, Starbucks and McDonalds few hundred meters...

This smallish boutique hotel has a lot to offer. For those familiar with European sized bedrooms, it was normal sized, which is small by US standards. But bathroom was larger than many. There was a good single bed with down comforter, a mini-fridge, coffee service, complementary toiletries, a room safe, a TV with several English news channels, and free internet....

we stayed here July2,2013 for 4 nights. at the last minute we added our 22 yr old son to the reservation. The hotel made accomodations for him in the room for a small added fee. Breakfasts were included as well as a Nespresso machine. The beds were very comfortable, room was very quiet, we were on the floor above the...

This hotel is in an ideal position for seeing the main tourist areas. It has lots of quirky art which adds interest. Although on the small side the bedrooms were very clean and comfortable. There was a good choice for breakfast with an excellent choice with the usual cereals, fresh fruit , meats, cheese, bread ,pastries . A variety of egg dishes...

I came back for the second time on business. It's probably some specific soap they use, but this place has a really distinctive smell that always makes me smile every time I walk in. I used airport transfer both directions, and it worked a charm. Service at the front desk is available day and night, always with a smile. I...

There is absolutely nothing to criticize. This is what a small luxury hotel should be like. Great room, quite in the middle of the city, a bottle of wine and a basket of fruit as a welcome, and a great breakfast. Special mention goes to Christoph at the front desk. From dealing with our mistake in booking to recommending a...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
